Boston Woman Lived Out The Real Life Version Of ‘The Holiday’ Movie. We Love This IRL Rom-Com Moment!

I have to admit one of my all-time favourite romantic comedies after The Proposal is The Holiday. There is something so charming and simple about the rom-com that has me all mushy inside. I can’t even tell you the number of times I’ve dreamt of doing a house-swap and living the real-life version of the movie, but my paranoid-ass has always stopped me from doing so. But not everyone is not like me (and aren’t we glad for it). A woman from Boston is now living out her favourite romantic comedy, The Holiday, after she went on TikTok and asked if someone would be interested in a house-swap for the holiday! Yep, this really happened.

A woman from Boston named Grace Gagnon, joked around asking people on TikTok if anyone would be interested in exchanging homes for the holidays and now, she is living out the real-life version of the movie, The Holiday. 

Earlier this month, the 25-year-old woman was watching The Holiday and was inspired by it. It was then that she posted a video of her waterfront apartment and asked, “Anyone in England want to switch places for the holiday?”

The video got millions of views and likes, to say the least. Grace also said in an interview that she got a tonne of responses from people and that’s when she decided that she has to do this. And that’s when she chose Flo, a 22-year-old, and decided to go meet her in London.

Speaking to Flo about the whole house-swap inspired by The Holiday, she said that she honestly didn’t think that Grace would respond to her but took her chance and sent Grace a DM. In fact, even Grace couldn’t believe that it was actually happening. She said, “It actually feels like a dream right now. I posted the video three weeks ago and suddenly I’m planning a trip to England last minute. Nuts!”

And now that everything is set, the two will do a house-swap soon enough. The woman from Boston did say that it can be quite dangerous which is why she did a background check on Flo and they also exchanged security deposits so neither of them would trash the other’s house. 

Honestly, I’m a tad bit jealous of them. I mean, even I want to live out The Holiday movie. But I’m waiting for them to get done with their experience so I know if I can handle all of this by myself.
