Ever since this the coronavirus began infecting people in our country last year, Indian politicians have been babbling about things relating to the virus that are neither scientific nor logical. For instance, who remembers the minister who claimed eating his brand of pappad would cure people of the virus? Or the other one who said that coronavirus could not infect her because she was born in cow dung. Weird flex, right? But at the end of the day, these politicians always seem to circle back to their trusty ‘gau mutra’ hack to cure coronavirus. Recently, BJP MP Pragya Thakur claimed she isn’t infected with the virus because she drinks the urine of Indian cows every day. So, instead of promoting the vaccine drive, our politicians are still promoting cow urine as a viable solution. Think about that the next time you wonder why we are in this grim situation.
BJP MP Pragya Thakur was heard telling a party gathering that cow urine cures the lung infection caused by COVID. Hence, she drinks it every day to keep herself protected. She said, “If we have desi gau mutra (urine from an indigenous cow) every day, then it cures lung infection from Covid. I am in deep pain but I take cow urine every day. So now, I don’t have to take any medicine against corona and I don’t have corona.”

The MP, who thinks of herself as a saint, also said that cow urine saves lives. In fact, according to reports, two years ago she claimed that drinking cow urine mixed with other cow products cured her cancer. Someone please nominate her for a Nobel prize!
After her “cow urine cures coronavirus” statement went viral, Pragya Thakur received tons of backlash online. However, she stuck to her words and claimed that they have scientific backing. She defended her claims by saying, “I have recommended these because they have scientific backing. Research has already established it.”
I am no scientist but even I can tell you, cow urine does not cure anything and it’s high time our politicians stop recommending it. The way they promote gau mutra, you’d think our entire government is running a secret co-op business selling cows and cow products. Anyway, all jokes aside, it’s vital that our politicians step out and look at the brutal reality of this situation. You know, for the world’s largest democracy, we sure know how to pick ’em!
