DCW Chief Swati Maliwal Receives Rape Threats After She Demands Sajid Khan To Be Removed From ‘Bigg Boss’ S16
It’s that time of the year again – the time when Bigg Boss is back with yet another season filled with controversies and a whole lot of drama. However, this time around, things took off a bit differently – why? Well, because a controversy started before the reality show actually aired. Yep, I’m hinting at people being outraged about Sajid Khan being in the house. For those unversed, a lot of people on social media came out and spoke about he should not be in the show because he is a #MeToo accused. Out of the many that spoke against him, Delhi Commission for Women (DCW) chief Swati Maliwal was also the one who not only spoke about it but also wrote to Union Information and Broadcasting Minister Anurag Thakur to remove Sajid Khan from Bigg Boss season 16 over allegations against him during the #MeToo movement. Well, things didn’t go well for the DCW Chief Swati Maliwal after the letter she wrote.
On Wednesday, October 12, DCW Chief Swati Maliwal took to Twitter to reveal that ever since she wrote the letter to Union Information and Broadcasting Minister Anurag Thakur to remove Sajid Khan from Bigg Boss season 16 because of the #MeToo movement allegations against him, she has been getting rape threats on social media.

DCW Chief Swati Maliwal wrote in the tweet, “Ever since I wrote a letter to the I&B minister to get #SajidKhan out of Bigg Boss, I have been receiving rape threats on Instagram. Obviously, they want to stop our work. I am giving a complaint to Delhi Police. Register FIR and investigate. Arrest those who are behind them.” Along with that, she even shared screenshots of the rape threats she got.
Earlier on Monday, DCW Chief had taken to her Twitter to point out that the numerous complaints filed against Sajid Khan were an indication of his “disgusting mentality”. Swati Maliwal wrote, “Ten women had accused Sajid Khan of sexual harassment during the #MeToo movement. All these complaints show the disgusting mentality of Sajid.” She further revealed that she has written to Anurag Thakur to remove Sajid Khan from the reality show, Bigg Boss season 16.

And this very thing is the sad reality of the society we live in. More often than not, people send rape threats and death threats to stop women from speaking their thoughts. These threats are often used as weapons to suppress a woman and her voice and that needs to stop! These threats just show how inhumane and cheap our mentality has become.
