Australian Olympic Legend Trolled For Photo Of Breastfeeding Her Child. People Say She Is “Craving” Attention

The thing about trolls, other than the fact that they’re nosy and lifeless, is also that it takes nothing to rile them up. Especially when you’re a woman. Easier than taking candy from a child, anything from something as simple as drinking or smoking or wearing a cut-sleeves top or a short-length skirt, can offend them to the point that they start feeling like it is their moral duty to criticize us. Much like in the case of an Australian  Olympic snowboard icon Torah Bright who was slammed by trolls for her recent post.

Mother to a beautiful son,  Flow, Torah had posted a bunch of pictures on her social media on account of Mothers day, embracing herself in the role of a mother and everything that comes with it. Breastfeeding, for instance. With one of the pictures showing Torah shirtless in an impressive head-stand where her son could be seen breastfeeding from her upside-down mom, it was here that the trolls lost their calm.

Once again bringing down a process as natural as breastfeeding by calling it “obscene”, “pathetic” and implying that was done by Torah only to “crave attention”, the post grabbed a lot of hate from trolls who could clearly not understand the emotion behind it.

The caption of the post read, “Becoming a mother has unleashed something inside of me. It’s deeply spiritual. It’s primal. It’s raw. It’s fierce. It is pure. I am mother. My prayer for all mothers, now and in the future is that they be heard. Honoured. Respected and encouraged to trust their intuition.”

A user wrote, “A photo of the breastfeeding would be better private of were you seeking attention?” while another one went ahead to write, “Well done on getting the attention you clearly crave… sad and pathetic.”

However, there were also people who went ahead and appreciated her being raw and admired her embracing motherhood in its entirety. Supporting her, they wrote comments like, ” “powerful words!” and “that is one crazy and powerful photo.” One user also wrote, “Stop it, your head stand nursing photo is EVERYTHING.”
The 34-year-old snow-boarding champ took notice of the comments that were made to bring her down and shame mothers for something as natural and beautiful like breastfeeding. And so, she addressed the hate in a separate post altogether. She wrote, “I feel so silly even addressing this. The photo was just a little bit of pure fun! Celebrating the bond between mother and child. I can understand how it’s not everyone’s taste, that’s fine. But from some of the negative feedback, what has struck me most is how we all, especially mothers need to support and up lift.
Not judge a moment in time. Let’s find the village of motherhood to grow and support each other.”She ended the caption by saying, “Remember…Our children learn from our example,” and honestly we couldn’t help but relate to every word she had to say. It is time people stop making such a big deal about breastfeeding mothers and cut down the taboos that have been created around it. It’s a beautiful and integral part of motherhood and no one should have to right to make you feel badly about it.
