Asha Kandara, A Sweeper Cleared Her Exam To Become Deputy Collector In Rajasthan. She Is Such An Inspiration

Access to education can change a person’s life. In fact, several people who remain poor end up being so because life and responsibilities got in the way of them getting an education. But it’s really heartening to see so many people sending their kids to school and motivating them to do big, even though they themselves couldn’t. It’s beautiful to see someone bringing about a change even later in life. Asha Kandara, a woman from Jodhpur who was a sweeper cleared the Rajasthan Administrative Service examination to become a deputy collector.

Kandara is a single mother of two children, who separated from her husband eight years ago. She raised her children all by herself and even completed her graduation while at it. Asha Kandara said the discrimination she faced motivated her to bring this change in her life. She said her success was due to the family support she received. Of course, she is being humble. It is mainly due to her perseverance – it would not have been easy to raise two children, study and do physical work as a sweeper.

Asha Kandara said she had given the exam in 2018 but due to the pandemic the results got delayed. When she found out that she has cleared it, she couldn’t contain her happiness.

With her hard work and perseverance, she found success. She could change her life and achieve much more. Kandara said that the times were tough and she has suffered a lot. It wouldn’t have been easy with so many responsibilities and limited resources. But now that she has made it, she wants to help the underprivileged.

We hope her journey brings a light in the darkness for many and motivates people to pursue their dreams no matter what. She is truly an inspiration – for doing what she did and also wanting to help others!
