Amber Heard’s Attorneys Send In Memorandum To Get Johnny Depp Defamation Trial Verdict Tossed
It’s been a whole month since Johnny Depp partied at an Indian restaurant after winning the defamation trial. The jury announced the verdict in his favour in Virginia and asked the actress to pay him the hefty sum of USD 10.35 million for the defamation and damages to Johnny Depp’s reputation, that she was the sole cause of, by writing an op-ed in The Washington Post, back in 2018. After a month’s pause on the legal train, Amber Heard is all set to hop on again as her attorneys speak up for her.
Amber’s attorneys are now trying to get the verdict challenged as they seek to toss it in the bin. They submitted a 43-page long memorandum to the court claiming that the verdict deserves a second look. They believe that there wasn’t enough proof and evidence to support the same. According to reports, Heard’s legal team has put in this request at the Fairfax County Circuit Court. They intend to get the verdict thrown out to save her from the dues that she has been asked to clear up.

To make matters more interesting, her attorneys have also requested the court “to investigate improper juror service” and also claimed that “public information indicates that a juror who served during the trial was born in 1970, despite court officials listing their birth year as 1945.”
The document also goes ahead and beyond as they question the fact that, “This discrepancy raises the question whether Juror 15 actually received a summons for jury duty and was properly vetted by the court to serve on the jury.” This makes everything that occured in court seem suspicious and doubtful.
Furthermore, the document also says, “Mr Depp presented no evidence that Ms Heard did not believe she was abused. Therefore, Mr Depp did not meet the legal requirements for actual malice, and the verdict should be set aside.”

This is the first move that she has made after sitting with Today and giving an interview. This was the interview in which she released a statement calling this verdict “a backwards move for women.” Furthermore, she also went on to mention the fact that she still, “stands by her testimony and everything she said during the trial.”
