After A Minor Girl Was Raped, This Delhi Cop Befriended The Rape Accused On Facebook To Ensure His Arrest.
There is no denying that the police force is the backbone of our society. Without them keeping a vigilant eye we would quickly descend into anarchy. And with the pandemic leading to a surge in crime rates, their job seems to have gotten that much tougher. But the only reason we’ve made it so far is that our police are going out of their way to make sure we’re safe and justice is executed. We said this after a Delhi cop befriended a man accused of rape to ensure his arrest.
It all started on 30 July when a hospital informed the Delhi police that a 16-year-old girl had been raped. The minor girl’s medical report showed that she was pregnant. She was extremely apprehensive but eventually, she narrated the horrifying ordeal she had been through. The girl told the cop that a few months ago she met a man near her house. After engaging in sexual intercourse, he began ignoring her. According to reports, the accused didn’t even give the victim his phone number. Based on this statement a probe was launched.
Police tried to locate him through his social media. After going through more than a hundred Facebook accounts, Sub-inspector Priyanka Saini finally identified the accused’s profile. She then sent him a request and the accused accepted. Soon, Priyanka and the accused were chatting. Even though he was reluctant to divulge his information, the accused managed to get a hold of his phone number.

A police officer said, “On July 31, he first asked her to meet him at Dashrath Puri Metro station around 7.30 pm. A team in civil dress was deployed, but he changed the location and asked the SI to come to Dwarka Sector 1. Within minutes, he called her again and asked her to come to Sri Mata Mandir Mahavir Enclave, from where he was apprehended.”
The accused is an employee at a bangle shop in Dwarka. During the interrogation, it was revealed that he had taken advantage of 6 girls in the last 5 months. He would contact them, give them fake contact details and lure them in. After having sex with them, he would avoid them like the plague. It took an entire undercover operation to get a hold of this man because he would frequently change houses to avoid getting caught.
We love how Priyanka went to such great lengths to ensure that this lecherous man would not hurt another girl. We need more cops like her!
