Actress Neena Gupta Says She Would Never ‘Poison’ Masaba’s Mind About Her Dad Vivian Richards

The thing about Indian society and Indian mentality is that we tend to condemn what we don’t understand. Women, for instance. Whether it is women wearing their choice of clothes, pursuing their choice of careers, or getting romantically involved in ways they seem fit, chances are that they will always be judged for it. Much like actress Neena Gupta, who having been one of the few in her times to have a child out of wedlock, was often judged by many around her.

Not choosing the conventional way to start a family, and owning up to her choices, Neena Gupta has always been the kind to live her life, her way, without caring about what people might say. Accepting her affair with former cricketer Vivian Richards, boldly and unapologetically, she recently opened up about the relationship that her daughter Masaba Gupta and her father -Vivian shared.

Raising a fine young woman in Masaba, Neena talked about how she never tried to poison her daughter’s mind about her father. While interviewing with Bollywood Bubble, Neena said, “I had Masaba because I loved Vivian. And if you love somebody, you can’t hate somebody like that. You may not live or do things together – woh dheere dheere pata chalta hai (you get to know that slowly). But you can’t hate. Aisa toh nahi hota ki aaj love hai toh kal suddenly you hate (You can’t love someone one and hate them the next).”

She went on to say to talk about how she couldn’t possibly plant thoughts of hate in her daughter’s mind against her father. Neeha Gupta went on the explain how Masaba respects the both of them and that actually, this entire thing is very simple.

Furthermore talking about  what love means to her, Neena said, “As far as love is concerned, I have come to a conclusion. What I have understood is that real love exists only between parents and children. Baki koi love nahi hota (Otherwise there is no love). Woh pehle lust hota hai, phir habit hoti hai (it’s lust at first, then habit) then, it’s caring. This is what I think.” Giving us quite some food for thought too!

As of now, the mother-daughter duo is a hit in the industry and with the fans, for being unabashed and real that they both are. And the fact that Neena Gupta could own up to the kind of bond that Masaba and her father share, despite the history that went down, shows how Neena Gupta has always been ahead of time.
