AAP’s Video Featuring Vidya Balan As CM Chair For Punjab Assembly Elections 2022 Is More Appalling Than Funny!
One of the things that I enjoy a lot is watching when political parties come up with creative speeches and videos for their campaigns during elections. I like watching how low they can fall when in these speeches and videos they degrade women and show them in a poor light. And even now, nothing much has changed. Recently, Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) released a video on Twitter showing Vidya Balan as CM chair for the upcoming Punjab assembly elections 2022. Needless to say, the video stirred up a controversy and received a much-deserved backlash from users on social media.
Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) through their official Twitter account posted a video of a song sequence – ‘Dil da mamla’ – from the film Heyy Baby and reworked it to give it a political tone. In the video, the party tagged Vidhya Balan as CM chair using an asterisk mark and replaced Akshay Kumar’s face with Charanjit Singh Channi’s face, the CM of Punjab.

In the video shared by AAP, Akshay Kumar’s face that is replaced with Charanjit Singh Channi’s face is seen luring Vidya Balan for attention. In fact, even Riteish Deshmukh’s face is swapped with Navjot Sing, Punjab Congress Chief, and Shah Rukh Khan’s face with Maan’s face. The video also features Rahul Gandhi and Arvind Kejriwal with their faces plastered on Anupam Kher and Boman Irani, respectively.
The idea behind the video by AAP was to send a message showing Maan making an entry that is powerful yet surprising just like Shah Rukh Khan’s in the song. Just like in the song Shah Rukh Khan wins Vidya Balan in the song, Maan would win the CM chair. Needless to say, the video backfired and they received a lot of flack from people online.
While men are portrayed as heroes, a woman comes as an 'object' for @AamAadmiParty.
No wonder they don't have a single leader who is woman and a minister in Delhi. They expose themselves everyday.

This is totally misogynist and sexist. Women are not chair. AAP must delete this filthy tweet. Maintain some sense.

It isn’t even a bit surprising that a political party has again objectified and degraded a woman to fit their purpose. I mean, how is this funny or justified in any way? When will we understand that a woman is not something you can get or win? She is not a prize and calling her a CM chair definitely doesn’t cut it!
