Men Who Thrashed A Woman And Her Friends For Resisting Sexual Assault Finally Arrested After The Video Went Viral
At what point in human life, did it become unsafe for women to travel alone? Why is it that there are so many men out there who have zero ethics and the kind of monstrosity that should have no place in human civilization? And yet, they exist – more freely than we do. How is it fair? Recently, a woman and the two friends she called up for her safety were brutally beaten up by around 10-11 men – just because she resisted being molested. A video of the incident got viral and the police were compelled to take immediate action.
This woman took a rickshaw from Ulhasnagar to her home in Dombivli. Catching her all alone, the rickshaw driver allegedly had the audacity to ask for her number. When she refused, he allegedly tried molesting her. She asked him to stop the rickshaw but he refused. That is when she called up her two male friends and kept updating them about her location.
When the woman threatened to jump off the rickshaw, the driver allegedly stopped it. By then, even her male friends had arrived the scene. However, the driver gathered around 10-11 of his fellow rickshaw drivers and all of them started beating the woman and her friends brutally. They pleaded them to stop but they didn’t.
An onlooker recorded the ordeal and the video went viral on social media. It caught police’s attention, however, the woman refused to file a complaint but her friends did. The driver and the 10 other people he called were arrested under sections 354 (assault or criminal force to woman with intent to outrage her modesty), 323 (voluntarily causing hurt), and 324 (voluntarily causing hurt by dangerous weapons or means) of the Indian Penal Code.

It’s so scary, honestly. The number of crimes that happen to us as women in full public view leave us feeling scared. We think crimes happen only in secluded lanes and when there are a lot of people around, a woman feels safe. But are we, really? Because if you think about the medical professional that was stabbed in broad day light, the women who were beaten up by their families, and these three people who were thrashed ruthlessly – it makes us lose faith in humanity. Nobody helps out and these people aren’t afraid to commit crimes in public view. When will women experience the feeling of being safe, like truly safe?
