In A Horrifying Incident, This Man From Kerala Raped A 6-Year-Old Girl For Three Years And Then Murdered Her
Even before we were living in pandemic times, violence against women was on the rise. I don’t know one woman who hasn’t been catcalled, groped or worse and that is horrifying. Although, after writing about hundreds of sexual assault cases, I have realised that our government’s nonchalant attitude is just enabling these monsters further. Every time a woman is raped, politicians rush to blame her for the attack. Her character is assassinated and judged on the basis of how tight her jeans were and what the time was when she left her house. But what about the children that get lured by predators and raped? Were they somehow “asking for it” too? Like in this bone-chilling case from Kerala where a 6-year-old girl was raped for three years and then murdered. Whose fault is it? Obviously, we can’t hold the lecherous man responsible.
On 30 June, in the Idukki district of Kerala, the body of a 6-year-old girl was found hanging in a room in her parent’s quarters. In connection with this, the police have arrested 22-year-old Arjun who is the youth wing leader of the Communist Party of India (Marxist). They believe that he raped and then murdered her. It just gets worse from here.
According to reports, Arjun, the accused, would lure the girl with chocolates and sweets and then rape her. This sinister ordeal went on for three years. However, before the police knew these details, they had registered a case of accidental death. Allegedly, they were told that a shawl accidentally got wrapped around her neck while she was playing. The autopsy report, though, told a whole different story. It revealed that the girl had been sexually assaulted and the abuse had been going on for a long time.

On the day of the murder, police officials said that the accused sneaked into the girl’s house while her parents were away at work and began sexually assaulting her. However, this time, she fell unconscious which led Arjun to believe that she had died. Hence, he hung her with the shawl in the room to make it look like an accident. After being interrogated, Arjun has confessed to sexually abusing the girl for a period of three years leading to her death.
This whole incident is just heart-wrenching. We hope that the accused is found guilty prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law for his vicious crimes. But this brings up the question of why people aren’t outraged about this heinous act. Have we become so desensitized?
