9 Year Old’s Plea for Covid Victim Mother’s Stolen Phone To Be Returned, Breaks Hearts On Internet.

As we grow older in our lives, we tend to start remembering people or certain moments by way of association. That is, we conenct them to things with a special significance in our life. Sometimes it’s a gift that they gave you, other times it is a special memory that you keep close to your heart, and at times it is pictures that take you for a stroll down the memory lane. Now imagine the grief that would envelop you if you were to ever lose those things that helped you feel a little closer to your person. In today’s times, these memories are often stored in our phone.

As we saw the emotion behind the eyes of a 9-year-old who recently made a plea that touched out hearts.  Hrithiksha is a 9-year-old daughter of a daily wage worker, putting up in Kushalnagar of Kodagu district. Only recently, Hrithiksha lost her mother to the coronavirus in a hospital in Madikeri. And what added more to her grief was the fact, that her late mother’s phone was also stolen while she was at the hospital.

Keeping in mind the countless and priceless memories and pictures that the phone stored of her late mother, the 9-year-old made an earnest and heart-breaking appeal to whoever took her mother’s phone, to simply return it to her.

Akshitha, Hrithiksha’s aunt who spoke to TNN about the matter, said, “The phone was switched off when we tried calling her on Saturday (May 15) and the next day we were told she (Prabha) had died. We asked for the phone to be given back again but we were told by the hospital that it was missing. We have not got the mobile back yet.” She also added, “Hrithiksha has been crying and asking for the mobile to be returned since the phone has a lot of photos of her mother.”

And as the news and picture of the daughte, holding up her plea for the phone to somehow be returned went viral on the internet, several netizens jumped in to demand swift action on the matter. Kodagu SP Kshama Mishra who is also looking into the case, commented, “We have taken up the complaint and we are contacting the hospital about the missing phone.”

Meanwhile, another police officer from Madikeri shared, “We have asked the family to remain in Kushalnagar and taken the complaint in the police station there. We are tracing the phone on priority.” We sincerely hope that either the police nabs the thief, or he somehow come across the appeal of the little girl and does right by her, by returning the phone back, which at this point is more like a memento than a gadget.
