10 Unique Ways You Can Commemorate Your Wedding Day Long After Its Over

Wedding days are such an important part of someone’s life. It is one of the most important days of one’s life. A day to celebrate the love you and your spouse have for each other. Moreover, to celebrate it with both of your loved ones who have seen you both grow individually and as a couple. What could be better than that? However, as time passes, no matter how good your memory might be, it is only natural that one might forget aspects of their wedding day considering how hectic it can get. Recently, when Priyanka Chopra posted pics with her husband, Nick Jonas on Diwali, I noticed that they have kept memorabilia from their wedding day by framing and hanging their wedding Gathbandhan. Which is such a beautiful idea!

I feel like this is something we could all get on board with to remember our wedding day by other than just dusty photo albums that no one really looks at after a while. With the ongoing Shaadi season, it is only fair that you get ideas to memorialise your wedding day given by yours truly. So, here are my 10 ideas to remember your wedding day by:

1. Wedding Music Video

I genuinely suggest hiring a professional videographer who actually can shoot and edit videos of your big day with excellent cinematography skills. Many of such videographers genuinely make your wedding video look like motion pictures, making your wedding celebrations look like a fairytale or a scene out of a rom-com. How beautiful!

2. Wedding Albums With Candid BTS

Okay, okay, I know I just criticised wedding albums earlier, BUT this is different, I promise! So you know how we have a tradition of lining up next to the centre stage to take these stoic and serious pictures with the bride and groom? No wonder, wedding albums end up collecting dust. Because it is boring! I suggest taking casual and candid pictures with your close loved ones. Don’t just keep them limited to your phone gallery, but make an album out of such pictures for you to look back at and laugh at.

3. Wedding Flowers / Decor Keepsakes

Press your wedding flowers between books and dry them out. After that, you can either frame them or you can cover them in resin and use them in jewellery or a showpiece around your house as a decoration and memorabilia. How cute! You can also use other such elements from your wedding, such as NickYanka framing their wedding gathbandhan!

4. Make A Wedding Journal

Write and record everything you do and feel during your wedding preparations and on D-Day. This will serve as a written record of the entire process and also enable you to relive those days of anticipation and excitement. You could ask your partner to do this too and read each other’s journals, giving the whole ceremony and its preparations dual perspectives, enabling you to understand each other better.

5. Asking Guests To Write Notes To The Couple

Asking close loved ones to write you guys notes and well wishes is a great idea. You can showcase these tokens of love in a jar and pull them out each time you need a little pick-me-up. It will also remind you and your spouse of the love you share with each other and the people in your lives.

6. Asking Older Guests For Advice

Who better to ask for marital advice than older loved ones who have been married for over a decade. Ask your mother, father, in-laws, uncles, aunts, and grandparents to write you both some marital tips on a paper and fold it into chits. You can keep this treasure of wisdom in your room and open one each time you feel lost in your relationship.

7. Wedding Vows

The words you exchange on your wedding day with your spouse, promising your love and commitment to each other is important and pure. You can make that moment memorable by getting your vows framed as a memento of your promise to stick together, till death do you apart.

8. Signature Perfume

We tend to associate smells with different places, people and memories; use that to your advantage. Get a perfume to use as your signature wedding perfume and wear it whenever you do anything in relation to your wedding and even on the big day! This will ensure that you associate this fragrance with your wedding day and will be reminded of it every time you wear it. Perfect for those couples who do not want a performative way of commemorating their wedding!

9. Carved Wooden Slab

Use an elegant piece of wood with both your names carved on it as a centrepiece on the tables. You can use one of them as a nameplate to your new place together as a symbol of your new beginning together. You could also hang it up on your bedroom wall or make it a statement piece for your side tables.

10. Live Wedding Painting

You can hire a wedding painter for your big day too. These talented artists usually stand at the venue and paint whatever moment you ask them to. In the end, you receive a beautiful and professionally painted piece of your big day!

Considering how important weddings and marriages are, I believe that just a photo album does not do justice. I really hope these ideas inspired you to find unique ways to remember your wedding day and enjoy this year’s shaadi season!
