The Met Gala is nothing short of a big, loud celebration that the world eagerly waits to witness. And as the star-studded gala gears up for another spectacular season this year, the excitement has already taken a flight. The affair scheduled for the month of May, has already announced its latest theme–In America: An Anthology of Fashion. While I am thrilled to watch celebrities from Blake Lively, Ryan Reynolds, Regina King, to Lin-Manuel Miranda taking the spot of this year’s official co-chairs, there’s a lot more that needs our immediate attention.

According to latest reports, and some yogdaan by Zendaya as well, our forever favourite Queen Z is in the mood to skip this year’s biggest dress-up event. Yes, you read that right. After making an impeccable sartorial mark in the previous seasons, Zendaya’s style game will be a big miss this year. I mean, this definitely is sad news, because apart from Z’s onscreen performances, her wardrobe choices are something that the world looks forward to, and I am going to miss seeing that. Also, just to clear the air, this is not some prank, we’re pulling here, Zendaya herself revealed the heartbreaking news. It all happened when Spider-Man’s MJ appeared for a special Euphoria For Your Consideration (FYC) Emmy event and shared with Extra TV why she’ll skip this year’s gala, “I’m gonna disappoint my fans here, but I will be working.” Yes, exactly there you did.

Talking further about her plans of utilising the red carpet time, Zendaya said she wants to get back to doing more work and mentioned “But yeah, I’ll be back eventually…Yeah, I’ll keep delivering in other ways [on other red carpets].”So, it’s clear, that her departure from the Met Gala is only for this season, and she’ll be back slaying and winning on other red carpets, for which OMG, I can’t wait.

Also, according to a report by Instagram’s Diet Sabya, our Indian superstar–Deepika Padukone is expected to take a flight to New York, for this year’s Met Gala. The interesting scoop also declared that the Gehraiyaan star is likely to turn muse for label–Louis Vuitton, for the big red carpet event. Furthermore, the it also suggested that DP will take the centre stage as Louis Vuitton’s global brand ambassador (interesting).

While America’s fashionably rich designs will be put on display, the new exhibitions this year will travel back in time and revisit the roots of American fashion. The two-part exhibition will witness a stunning display of 100 garments by independent designers from the 1800’s up until the 1900s. Showcasing the periodic style, every room will feature “freeze frames” to speak about the distinct aesthetics of film directors like– Chloé Zhao, Julie Dash, Tom Ford, Regina King, Martin Scorsese, Autumn de Wilde, Janicza Bravo and Sofia Coppola. Following this year’s theme–Gilded Glamour, attendees will deliver their theatrical twist to the classic white-tie dressing.
