Shibani Dandekar And Farhan Akhtar’s Mehendi Function Was A Mexican Fiesta, Tailor Made With Love. Our Hearts Are Full!

I have been obsessed with Farhan Akhtar and Shibani Dandekar’s whimsical wedding. From the backyard setup to the bridal outfit, everything looked like an image straight from my dreams. And now giving us a sneak peek into her bohemian mehendi function, newly-wed Shibani Dandekar has dropped a bunch of happy images from the ceremony. Styled by celebrity stylist Khyati Basu, Shibani turned muse for designer Payal Singhal, with whom she shares a great bond off-work too. In sync with the theme of the decor that shouted ‘I am a boho chic’ Shibani’s mehendi-ready outfit followed a similar aesthetic and incorporated a two-piece set. Channelling her inner gypset, the custom-made design bloomed in lovely shades of pink, coral blue and yellow through the bohemian kalidar sharara teamed with the designer’s signature backless choli. Adorned with a mix of embroideries including wool, thread, mirror and zardozi, the outfit played along the lines of Mexican folk craftsmanship. Super fun and fab, we loved the strappy sleeves of the blouse, which came adorned with multiple thread tassels. Shibani further completed the look with oxidised silver earrings by Amrapali jewellers and decorated her voluminous hair with white and mauve flowers and a bunch on her wrist.

Apart from the bride’s look, the interiors of the venue offered stunning visuals of a bohemian set-up. Designed by Nehali Kotian and co-hosted by Payal Singhal, the set-up borrowed inspiration from Farhan Akhtar and Shibani Dandekar’s time in Tulum and weaved a space that was a mix of Mexican fiesta meeting mehendi mela. Okay, now that’s too gorgeous.

The mehendi pictures as posted by Shibani also featured her bridesmaids, Anusha Dandekar, Rhea Chakraborty, Apeksha Dandekar, her mom, Sulabha Dandekar, Shabana Azmi and a special cameo by husband Farhan Akhtar in a grey track-suit who flaunted his special ‘S and F’ henna tattoo. Raw and beautiful, the smiling images translated the energy of the joyful day to our screens and we loved every bit of it.
