Designer Sabyasachi Reveals How Katrina Kaif And Vicky Kaushal Didn’t See Each Other’s Outfits Before The Wedding!

Celebrity weddings are no less than a festival for the entire nation. From digging into details of the venue, invitation cards to the couple’s wedding outfits, every little bit makes it to the headlines. And one such popular wedding was of actors Katrina Kaif and Vicky Kaushal. Tying the knot in the beautiful state of Rajasthan, the couple’s wedding pictures have taken the internet by storm. From the mandap, haldi ceremony to the final shaadi day, every corner,  intricate detailing and jewellery on their wedding outfit was regal and truly the ‘Sabya’ way. The couple just like many other celebrities chose, India’s most popular bridal couturier Sabyasachi Mukherjee’s designs, throughout the three-day-long festivities.

Ever since the rumours found their place in the air, Katrina Kaif’s wedding outfit has been the biggest question until the day she finally wore it. Choosing designer Sabyasachi for her D-Day just like her fellow actresses, her ensemble was definitely a head-turner. Dressed in the classic Sabyasachi lehenga, with zardozi detailing and a dupatta that celebrated her groom’s Punjabi roots, the actress’ D-Day attire was all things regal and high on accessories.

Sharing a beautiful image of her walking the aisle with her sister squad, holding the traditional phoolon ki chaddar, Katrina Kaif’s red on red ensemble was striking and grand. From the matha patti, chooda, dupatta detailing to her kaleeras, the actress’ choice of jewellery depicted belongingness and a special meaning.

Sharing beautiful pictures from her haldi ceremony, Katrina Kaif was seen dressed head-to-toe in Sabyasachi yet again. Making way for ivory in her wedding wardrobe, the actress donned a beautiful organdy lehenga paired with a cropped blouse and organza dupatta, embellished with gota and tilla embroidery. Wearing the alluring marori embroidered dupatta in the same shade, bordered with kiran just like her wedding day veil, stylist Anaita Shroff Adajania styled it like a cape around her shoulders. (What a perfect shade for the haldi day) Complementing the fresh floral jewellery, which is often seen on the bride during the haldi and mehendi ceremony, the actress accessorised the beautiful gold and white on her outfit with floral jhumkas, necklace and bangles by Floral Art & Design Studio. Keeping her natural curls intact for the day, she also added a white gajra with minimal, dewy make-up by makeup artist Daniel Bauer.

Adding colours to the wedding festivities, the evening event was just as gorgeous. Opting Sabyasachi for the dhol night, Katrina Kaif looked radiant in the colourful matka silk lehenga with unique bajubans gracing the sleeves. Sharing details about the ensemble, the designer mentioned on his social media handle, “For the mehendi ceremony, Katrina Kaif wears a multi-coloured matka silk lehenga with a patchwork blouse and an embroidered tulle dupatta inspired by Sabyasachi’s graduation collection Kashgaar Bazaar. The collection found its muse in the diversity of India’s regional folklore, crafts and nomadic culture, and layers chintz prints with hand-fringed embellishments, brass sequins and heavily embroidered borders.”

And I absolutely loved the backless detail with maroon being the hero of the outfit. The perfect palette for the mehendi night, Katrina Kaif opted for Navratan inspired jewellery with emeralds, uncut diamonds, pearls, rubies, sapphires and spinels in 18k gold from the designer’s collection.

While her other half, Vicky Kaushal too donned designs by the same designer, his choice of shades invited the bride to take the lead, twirling in her colourful attire. Wearing a royal silk kurta with embroidered butis in the shade mint, the star of the ensemble was the heavily embroidered raw silk bandhgala jacket with the classic coromandel chintz print that has made to many collaborative collections designed by Sabyasachi. Vicky Kaushal’s ensemble came in muted shades of mint, green and pink that complimented the bride’s multi-hued attire.

A name that definitely has been a constant throughout celebrity weddings, designer Sabyasachi’s vision is unmatched. Taking the readers through the process of curating the outfits for Katrina Kaif and Vicky Kaushal, the trend-maker shared with Vogue, “I love working with couples who know who they are and what they want. Katrina is methodical and meticulous, and that made it easy for me to interpret their vision through my aesthetic. They are aware of their heritage and personal expression, and meld the two together in a most authentic way, which aligns perfectly with my own vision as a designer.”

Furthermore, the designer mentioned, “The bride and groom didn’t see what the other was wearing until the day of the wedding, so it was beautiful to witness how in sync their visions were even as we worked on their ensembles, separately.”
