Here’s What We’re Looking Forward To At The FDCI X Lakmé Fashion Week 2022
Post a long halt of events, and gruelling days of the pandemic, fashion and beauty household titles of India–Lakmé Fashion Week (jointly organised by Lakmé & RISE Worldwide) and the Fashion Design Council of India (FDCI) have joined hands and turned hosts for a fully on-ground, physical, season-fluid edition of fashion week at Major Dhyan Chand National Stadium in New Delhi, from March 23 till March 27, 2022, with all safety regulations. Yes, that’s right. Bringing together an interesting roaster of designs, trendsetting silhouettes and marvellous stitches, here’s what you can expect from the country’s top creators who will unfold their creations on the big stage, during this week of glam.
The Opening Show
Celebrated designer Rahul Mishra will open the doors to FDCI X Lakmé Fashion Week with his stunning collection showcase at the Italian Embassy in Delhi on March 22, 2022. Flagging off this year’s season-fluid edition, Rahul Mishra’s love for nature and nuance will light up the stage with his collection–‘The Enchanted Garden.’

New Initiatives And Titles To Know
Offering a collaborative experience with an array of designs and styles, celebrated Indian designers will make a glorious comeback to the physical runways with interesting tie-ups. From designer Rahul Mishra’s opening show at the Italian Embassy in Delhi, Alpana Neeraj’s collaborative showcase with Lakmé Lumi Cream for #LitWithLumi, adidas’ uber-cool footwear range, offering a hundred pairing options with Antar Agni and Khanijo, Bata’s collaboration with sequins master Suneet Varma, AJIO Luxe and Manish Malhotra’s coming together for the latter’s Diffuse, and a lot more is on its way to grace the stage.

Physical Shows
After a really-really long wait, the runways have switched spots from our phone screens to newer venues and there’s a lot more to explore. The season fluid edition will flag off newer trends, silhouettes and changes, as they return to the big stage. With Major Dhyan Chand National Stadium, New Delhi, serving as the hot destination for this season’s fashion week, attendees will take a seat to experience the larger than life, design stories.
Emerging Designers To Know
Offering a platform to young designers, FDCI X Lakmé Fashion Week will showcase new and emerging names in the world of fashion as a part of its years-long legacy. Commencing with INIFD presents GenNext, runways will light up with designs by Alpona Designs, Shriya Khanna alongside FDCI x Pearl Academy’s TheFirstCut and INIFD Launchpad that will create a space for budding designers to present their fresh ideologies.

Presentations To Gear Up For
Amongst the interesting roaster of designers, who will put their best designs forward this year, are names like Lakmé Salon and Varun Bahl’s Quintessential, boAt X HUEMN’s exciting lineup of streetwear, NBA 75 X Ananya Modi Jain’s winning collection, NEXA presents Tarun Tahiliani, R|Elan X Satya Paul by Rajesh Pratap Singh, John Jacobs’ runway debut with spectacular designer duo Shivan and Narresh and a lot more.

There’s More To Sustainability
FDCI X Lakmé Fashion Week, will embark on a new journey of change and voice the ideas of sustainability to help protect the bruised planet. With Day 2 serving as the solo host for designers and labels working towards the change, R|Elan™ in partnership with FDCI X Lakmé Fashion Week, United Nations in India and United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP), followed by RISE Worldwide X Fashion For Good: Innovation for Circularity will showcase, designer creations by Divyam Mehta, Ka-Sha and Nitin Bal Chauhan. Alongside these names, designer Payal Pratap’s collaborative approach with Bemberg™, Antar Agni and Khanijo’s display of eco-conscious footwear in partnership with Adidas Originals and a special Khadi edit will feature Abhishek Gupta Benares, Anavila, French-Malian designer Mossi Traoré, and other Indian names like Anju Modi, Charu Parashar and Rina Dhaka.
