TWICE’s Tzuyu Faces Body-Shaming Over Thick Thighs. The Obsession With Women’s Bodies Needs To Stop!

The recent Singapore Grand Prix saw several K-pop stars in attendance, either as ambassadors or fans. Among them was TWICE’s Tzuyu, who grabbed attention with her interactions with racers and stunning outfits. While fans loved her stylish looks, the event also took an unpleasant turn when she became a target of body-shaming. Read on!

Tzuyu attended the Formula One Singapore Grand Prix and impressed fans with her looks and charming presence. However, a Taiwanese photographer named Zheng Zheng drew attention for all the wrong reasons after making comments about her appearance. The photographer reportedly criticised Tzuyu’s thick thighs and claimed that her body proportions were not ideal. His remarks did not go down well with fans, who were quick to call him out for body-shaming the singer.

Fans soon found his official Google Business page and left several one-star reviews. This caused his rating to drop to one star as people expressed their anger over his comments.

Following the backlash, Zheng Zheng apologised for criticising the K-pop idol and asked people to remove their negative reviews. He also pleaded with them to withdraw their ratings. Eventually, the reviews were removed, and his original rating was restored.

But the bigger issue here is not just the photographer’s apology or the reviews. It is the fact that people still feel comfortable passing comments about a woman’s body. Tzuyu was simply attending an event, meeting people and enjoying the experience. Why did her appearance have to become a topic of criticism?

For the unversed, the 2026 Singapore Grand Prix saw several K-pop stars in attendance. Stray Kids’ Felix and IVE’s Jang Wonyoung also grabbed attention, while CORTIS made their live debut, and Girls’ Generation’s HYO performed a DJ set. While the event gave fans plenty of memorable moments, Tzuyu’s experience is a reminder of how women are constantly judged for their looks, even when they have done nothing wrong.
