Jeong Soon-won recently won hearts with his performance as Kim Gang-rok, Jang Tae-ha’s (Jung Hae-in) trusted right-hand man in Our Sticky Love. The K-drama has reached audiences across the globe and continues to gain popularity, including in India, where it has created quite a buzz. We got the opportunity to speak with Jeong Soon-won in an exclusive interview, where he opened up about the show’s impressive numbers in India, working with Jung Hae-in, his experience on set, and much more.
1: What was it like working with Jung Hae-in to build that strong on-screen brotherhood, and do you have a favourite memory from filming together?
A: Talking with Hae-in, I came to see how polite, humble, upright, and genuine he is. He also made me feel really comfortable, which made it easy to act naturally on set. He also loves watching movies and dramas, so we grew closer by talking about films and sharing our favourites.
And despite his youthful, cute face, he’s got an incredibly impressive physique, and he’s great at action too. Watching him do his scenes on set, I kept thinking, What an actor.
2: Supporting characters often form the backbone of a story—what is it about these roles that makes them special to you, and what detail do you pay the most attention to when bringing them to life?
A: I love supporting characters because they bring energy to a story, sometimes helping the lead reach their goal, sometimes playing the villain who raises the stakes, and sometimes just telling a story viewers can relate to and find comfort in. I really enjoy contributing to a project in these different ways.
When I’m building a character, I want viewers to think, I’m sure there’s someone like that in my life too. Some people seem gruff but are genuinely kind underneath, while others smile warmly but have something sharper hidden, and I try to observe and understand all these different sides of people.
Ultimately, I want to create characters viewers can relate to and connect with.

3: Did you expect Our Sticky Love to become so huge in India, and how do you feel about the immense love from Indian fans?
A: I’ve heard Our Sticky Love is getting a lot of love in countries all over the world, which I never expected. I’m just incredibly happy and grateful that something we all worked so hard on is reaching so many viewers.
I haven’t gotten to experience the support from Indian fans firsthand yet. But opportunities like this interview, with such a wonderful Indian outlet, let me feel that love and interest, even if indirectly.
