In a fun and candid conversation with Siddhaarth Aalambayan aka The Male Feminist, actress Shriya Pilgaonkar said that she is a feminist and also tried to clear some misconceptions about feminism. She said that she finds it really funny when men say that they believe in equal rights but they are not a feminist. She mentioned that the meaning of the word ‘feminism’ is having equal rights.
Shriya said, “The word feminism has ‘feminine’ in it and that’s why people misunderstand it and think it is women over men but it is not that. Even the dictionary meaning of the word is equality in different sectors of life, it could be social, political, or economic. But the confusion happens because I think many people think of it as male-bashing but that’s not the case, these are just misunderstood ideas of feminism.”
