Sonali Bendre continues saying that she wants other sides of her to be explored. And that will to want to explore different layers of herself is what drove her to pick up her upcoming projects – whether it be non-fiction television or her return to mainstream acting with her OTT debut, The Broken News.

The 47-year-old actress promises that there will be a change in her as an actor that the audience will appreciate as much as they did her glamorous side. Sonali Bendre said, “The industry will see me as I want to be seen… but for that to happen, I need to be clear about how it is that I want to be seen. I don’t think I had taken myself seriously… Where I gave thought to my image, or what am I seen as”. She admits that it is not entirely the industry’s fault for being typecast as glamorous.

Sonali Bendre explains that initially, she was doing whatever came her way as her focus was to earn money and that’s how it was for a long period of time. But now, things have changed and she’s being more mindful of things and has started thinking along the lines of how she wants to be seen. The actress reveals that this is the first time she’s asking such questions and so she can’t blame the industry as she believes she needed to have clarity first.

The actress further added, “I was just at the space in life where I wanted to get back to work. I’ve been doing reality TV, but it revolved around my son’s time and home time. I have really not done fiction for a while and I was really ready for it now. My son has grown up and the project which I picked up was so exciting. The kind of content that’s happening is also so exciting. Now that I have the time on my hands, I really want to get back to it”. Sonali Bendre said that in the last four years she has had time to introspect and come to the realisation that she loves doing what she does.
