I’m so happy to make my OTT debut with @zee5, we’ve done so much together and it feels like family. I love the concept of this show from the get go and am so proud of how it’s turned out…. Can’t wait for you all to see it. #TheBrokenNews coming soon on #Zee5”

The Broken News is a baby of Zee5 and BBC Studios India. The series will be helped by Vinay Waikul who is best known for his crime-thriller series – Aranyak. The series tells a story of two Mumbai-based news channels – Awaaz Bharati, an independent and ethical news channel, and Josh 24/7 News, which caters to sensationalist and invasive journalism – that have an ongoing rivalry. It portrays “what transpires between the main characters in their quest for news.”

We are glad to partner with BBC Studios India and director Vinay Waikul to bring this story to life. It is a riveting drama depicting the nuances of the media houses and the daily hustle-bustle of a newsroom. The story revolves around the ideological differences of the protagonists, beautifully played by Shriya Pilgaonkar and Jaideep Ahlawat. The story has a strong, contemporary and compelling narrative making it a perfect addition to our content bouquet.”

Keeping up with the theme of the upcoming series, Zee5 will be announcing the release of The Broken News using the prime-time slot across all prominent news channels on May 11.
