‘Selfiee’ Trailer: Akshay Kumar Plays Himself With Emraan Hashmi As His Fan In Remake Of Malayalam Film
Here's yet another remake!
Bollywood has remake fever these days. From song remakes to film remakes, Bollywood hardly has any fresh content to offer us. Just when we were looking for something to cleanse our palate, Bollywood has another remake for us. Directed by Raj Mehta, Selfiee is the Hindi remake of the 2019 Malayalam action comedy Driving Licence. Starring Akshay Kumar and Emraan Hashmi in lead roles this film is set to hit the big screens on February 24. It also stars Diana Penty and Nushrratt Bharuccha in supporting roles.
The trailer of this Akshay Kumar, Emraan Hashmi starrer dropped on January 22. Star Studios and Dharma Productions have teamed up with the production houses of Driving Licence, Prithviraj Productions and Magic Frames for this film along with Cape Of Good Films. Selfiee follows the story of a superstar who needs a driving licence and runs into trouble with his fan, a motor vehicle agent after a series of misunderstandings. How will this battle between a superstar and his fan end?
The trailer of Selfiee opens with Akshay Kumar playing himself aka a superstar (also an action hero) as his fan (played by Emraan Hashmi) says “hum sabke dilon ke superstar hain vo”. It all starts with a fan and his son who want a selfie with their favourite superstar. This fan also happens to be a Motor Vehicle Inspector and when the application for the superstar’s driving licence lands on his desk, the fan sees it as an opportunity to get his much-wanted selfie. But misunderstandings land the fan and the superstar in a feud which gets ugly, dark and very personal.

This story of a superfan and superstar is yet another remake of a South film and while the trailer is full of action, comedy and drama, will Selfiee be able to keep up with the original film Driving Licence starring Prithviraj Sukumaran and Suraj Venjaramoodu, which was critically acclaimed? Guess, we’ll find out soon enough. Selfiee is scheduled for a theatrical release on February 24.
