Ratna Pathak Shah Says SS Rajamouli’s ‘RRR’ Is Popular But Regressive
The film has received Golden Globe nominations.
You know, it is okay if you don’t like the popular things and expressing your views and opinions about certain things if it doesn’t hurt sentiments is fine. And the same thing happened with Ratna Pathak Shah. You will be shocked to know that the veteran actress is not a big fan of the film RRR which is directed by SS Rajamouli. She said it is popular but is a regressive film. Those are quite harsh words, not gonna lie.

From Bollywood to Hollywood, everyone is all hearts for director SS Rajamouli’s blockbuster film RRR starring Jr NTR and Ram Charan, Alia Bhatt, and Ajay Devgn. But you know, not everyone will like something which is trending and actress Ratna Pathak Shah feels the same way. While sharing her opinions about the period drama, the Jayeshbhai Jordaar actress slammed it by saying that in today’s time films like RRR are very popular but it is a regressive movie.

Speaking at a book launch event, Ratna Pathak Shah mentioned that RRR looks backwards, although we should look forward. Furthermore, she added that one feels that whatever we are doing is good because we are part of the largest democracy but unless and until, directors are able to see their work critically, people have to watch such films.
For the unversed, RRR is set in the 1920s and follows the story of two revolutionaries and their fight for their country’s independence against British colonialists. The film recently bagged two nominations at the 2023 Golden Globe Awards for Best Non-English Language Film and Best Original Song for ‘Naatu Naatu’.
