Why Has Ramlila Body Demanded Pre-Release Screening Of Ramayana
The world is waiting to see Ranbir Kapoor as Lord Ram in Nitesh Tiwari’s Ramayana. The film will bring the Indian epic to the forefront, promising us grand visuals and a thrilling background score. But ahead of the release, Arjun Kumar, President of Shri Ramlila Mahasangh, wrote an official note to the makers of Ramayana, citing his concerns about the film. He first mentioned Adipurush starring Prabhas, that release some time back and how it failed to uphold the dignity of the Indian epic through the wrong representations of Lanka, the language, and some character representations. As per the note, Adipurush showed Ramayana in a bad light despite the high budget.
The note further demanded a pre-release screening of Nitesh Tiwari’s Ramayana for Ramlila Committees and Hindu organisations in Delhi. The note also mentioned that the recently released trailer looked “underwhelming” and that Ranbir Kapoor as Ram looks “weak” in portrayal. The press note pointed out other problematic details in the trailer that did not align with the Indian epic, and to avoid hurting sentiments in future, it suggested a pre-release screening for the concerned members of the Ramlila bodies. They also warned of holding protests if the demand was not met by the makers of Ramayana.
