Ram Gopal Varma Slammed For Comments About Presidential Candidate Droupadi Murmu
Ram Gopal Varma, the filmmaker whose tweets frequently get him in trouble, has sparked a new controversy. A lawsuit has been filed against him for a contentious tweet about Droupadi Murmu, the BJP’s presidential candidate, that included a ‘Mahabharata’ allusion.
If DRAUPADI is the PRESIDENT who are the PANDAVAS ? And more importantly, who are the KAURAVAS?

Gudur Narayana Reddy, a Telangana BJP leader, lodged a complaint against Mr Varma for the tweet, accusing him of demeaning the SC/ST community. He claimed that the police have promised that they will be taking harsh measures against him. He further added that he doesn’t believe that Ram Gopal Varma will tweet or make such a horrible statement against anyone.
This was said just in an earnest irony and not intended in any other way ..Draupadi in Mahabharata is my faviourate character but Since the name is such a rarity I just remembered the associated characters and hence my expression. Not at all intended to hurt sentiments of anyone https://t.co/q9EZ5TcIIV

Soon after, Ram Gopal Varma provided a clarification saying that Draupadi from the Mahabharata is his favourite character but because it is an uncommon name, He only remembered the connected characters and therefore this was his reaction. He added that it was never intended to damage anyone’s feelings.
