Pictures Of Bappi Lahiri’s Family Mourning His Demise During The Funeral Leaked Online. Shame On Paparazzi For Sharing Such Pics

I’ll be brutally honest, the Indian media has little to none sensitivity when it comes to celebrities. In the past we’ve seen the paparazzi hounding and stalking celebs, asking them degrading and rather cringe-worthy questions and even coming up with conspiracy theories, all for the sake of TRP. I cannot even count on both hands the number of media circuses we have witnessed over the last few years and it continues to get worse. I have called out the paparazzi in the past for their cringe-worthy behaviour and I will go on to do so once again. This time the paps crossed all lines when they shared pictures of Bappi Lahiri’s family crying out in pain from his last rites. A picture of his body has also been shared online much like it happened during Sushant Singh Rajput’s case. Not only is this shameful but it is also derogatory, and it’s unethical journalism.

If there’s anything I learned during my journalism education, it was to be compassionate and follow ethics. But it seems like the paparazzi urgently requires a long lesson in ethical journalism. What kind of behaviour are we promoting? And what kind of example are we setting for the next generation? Our of sheer respect for Bappi Lahiri and his family, I will not share or embed that picture here but shame on the paparazzi for not only clicking but sharing the pictures from his funeral on social media and circulating it. And surprisingly the fans seem to agree with us.

Check out these comments on the post urging the news organisation to take down the pictures and give the family privacy to mourn the loss of a family member.

TBH, it is extremely shameful to see the media shooting everyone arriving and leaving the funeral of the disco king. Here’s the deal guys, a family has lost their loved one and this is not an award function. And the celebs aren’t enjoying this either. Check out this video of Kajol asking the paparazzi to move away.
