Undoubtedly, music is an inseparable part of our lives and many singers have the power to lift the mood or sink within us to the deepest core of our hearts with their exceptional voices. Bappi Lahiri aka Bappi Da was surely one of those artists who made an impact with their music and changed the dynamics of the music industry for good. Born as Alokesh Lahiri on November 27, 1952, in Jalpaiguri, West Bengal. His parents Aparesh Lahiri and Bansuri Lahiri were Bengali musicians, so music was in his blood. He stepped into the world of music at a young age and with his unique sense of music he was able to introduce pop music and synthesise disco music in Indian Cinema and rightfully earned the title of India’s first rockstar and ‘Disco King’. Unfortunately, we lost him on February 15 due to obstructive sleep apnea (OSA) at Criticare Hospital in Mumbai. 1. Mausam Hai Gaane Ka

The song ‘Mausam Hai Gaane Ka’ by legendary musician Bappi Lahiri is from the film Surakksha featuring Mithun Chakraborty, Ranjeeta, Jeevan, Jagdeep, Iftekhar, and Aruna Irani. It is one of the most popular songs of Bappi Da and can make anyone dance to its beats and catchy lyrics.

2. Yaar Bina Chain Kaha Re

The song ‘Yaar Bina Chain Kahan Re’ is sung by Bappi Lahiri and S Janaki. It is from the film Saaheb  featuring Anil Kapoor and Amrita Singh realised in 1985. The romantic disco number was one of the highlights of the film and will remain in our hearts forever. The song is so catchy and iconic that it was also used in Ayushmann Khurrana-starrer Shubh Mangal Zyada Saavdhan.

 

3. Yaad Aa Raha Hai

The song ‘Yaad Aa Raha Hai’ sung by Bappi Da is from the 1982 blockbuster film Disco Dancer starring Mithun Chakraborty and Rajesh Khanna. The song was a trendsetter and even though it’s a sad song, it has some unique beats and magic that makes us groove. I mean, that was the speciality of Bappi Da’s songs!

 

4. Bambai Se Aaya Mera Dost

The song ‘Bambai Se Aaya Mera Dost’ is definitely one of the best songs of the 80s and 90s which is filled with nostalgia. It is from the film Aap Ki Khatir and we will always remember the song because of Bappi Lahiri’s fun-filled voice.

5. Tamma Tamma Loge

If we are talking about Bappi Da, we have to mention ‘Tamma Tamma Loge’. The song was inspired by Mori Kante’s tracks and was a huge hit in the year 1990. It is from the film Thanedaar starring Sanjay Dutt and Madhuri Dixit, the song composed and sung by Bappi Lahiri still continues to be a popular one and will definitely stay in our hearts forever.

6. Dil Mein Ho Tum

Bappi Da is known for his energetic and charismatic voice but with this song, he surprised us with his heartwarming vocals. In the song ‘Dil Mein Ho Tum’, his soulful voice not only mesmerised us but also added a touch of magic to it. The romantic track is from the film Satyamev Jayate featuring Vinod Khanna and Anita Raj.

7. Disco Dancer

It will be a sin to not add this amazing song to the list! The title track of the film Disco Dancer ‘I am a Disco Dancer’ featuring Mithun Chakraborty is actually sung by Vijay Benedict. But it made Bappi Da, the Disco King of Indian music who composed it. The song definitely has a special place in our hearts.
