Singer Chinmayi Sripada Shares A Throwback Of Lata Mangeshkar And Her Passion For Photography From ‘Rang De Basanti’ Set

We all have a fun hobby or passions that we don’t talk about enough. And the late legendary singer Lata Mangeshkar too had a passion that not many of us know about. The veteran singer may have left the world but she will forever stay alive in our hearts and in our culture. Today, on the day of her sad demise, several celebs and public figures are paying tribute to her while the others recall beautiful memories from the life of the singer. As we pay a tribute to Lata Mangeshkar, here’s a fun fact about her that was revealed by playback singer and voice-over artist Chinmayi Sripada. Sharing a throwback picture of the singer from the sets of Rang De Basant, Chinmayi shared an interesting story and the legendary singer’s love for cameras and photography.

Revealing the unknown fact about Lata Mangeshkar, Chinmayi shared that not many people are aware of the singer’s love for photography. Speaking about the story behind the picture, the playback singer shared that Lata Mangeshkar had a fantastic collection of professional cameras and on the particular day in question, the singer was talking about a new camera that she had recently bought.

Not many people knew that apart from being an exemplary singer, Lata Mangeshkar was also a skilled photographer. In fact, her photographs were kept in an exhibition when she was young and she always carried her Rolleiflex camera everywhere she went. The ‘Nightingale of India’ had once shared that she would carry her camera everywhere and click pictures of her family, friends and colleagues. According to Bollywood Hungama, the legendary singer had once said that if she wasn’t a singer, she could’ve been a photographer. “I don’t know what I’d have done if I wasn’t a singer. But photography was definitely a feasible option,” the singer had said. She had also added that phones and digital photography had replaced the ‘art of clicking pictures’ and that the ‘sheer joy’ of capturing pictures through the lens of a camera in the old fashioned way had been lost due to technological advancement.
