Singer Lata Mangeshkar Passes Away At 92. Rest In Peace, Queen Of Melody

The Covid-19 pandemic has not only affected most of us but it has also taken our loved ones away. A large number of people lost their family and friends to this disease and we’ve also lost some celebs. I guess you know what I’m getting at. We’ve lost another celeb to the Covid-19 pandemic and its none other than the legendary singer Lata Mangeshkar. The 92-year-old singer who is also known as the ‘Nightingale of India’, passed away on Sunday morning, February 6, at Breach Candy Hospital in Mumbai.

According to News18, Lata Mangeshkar died at 8.12 am due to multiple-organ failure after being admitted in the hospital 29 days ago after testing positive for Covid-19. The mortal remains of the legendary singer will be taken to Dadar’s Shivaji Park for a final glimpse before the last rites, which are scheduled to take place at 6 pm on Sunday. Two-days National mourning has been announced by the Central government on Lata Mangeshkar’s demise.

The veteran singer was admitted to the ICU in Mumbai’s Breach Candy Hospital in the second week of January 2022 after she contracted Covid-19 and was also diagnosed with pneumonia. Recently, the doctors from the hospital had shared an update on her health and revealed that Lata Mangeshkar’s health condition had deteriorated. Medial reports revealed that the singer had recovered from Covid-19 and pneumonia in later January. But she continued to remain in the ICU as her condition had worsened. The doctors also shared that Lata Mangeshkar has been put on ventilator support and is being closely monitored. “She is under aggressive therapy,” added Dr Pratit Samdani during a conversation with the media.

Earlier, Dr Pratit Samdani had shared that the singer had been taken off the ventilator for three days and was conscious. It was said that Lata Mangeshkar’s health was improving and the doctors were preparing to discharge her before her health began to deteriorate.

FYI, Lata Mangeshkar had been listed as the most recorded artist in history in The Guinness Book of Records in 1974. Apart from several National film awards, the veteran singer won several awards like the Padma Bhushan, the Padma Vibhushan, the Dadasaheb Phalke Award. She was also honoured with India’s highest civilian honour, Bharat Ratna in 2001. She was also awarded the title of Officer of the French Legion of Honour, which is the highest order in France.
