‘Koffee With Karan’ Season 7 Ep 1 Review: Ranveer Singh’s Pammi, And His Friendship With Alia Bhatt Made It A Riot!

‘Koffee With Karan’ Season 7 Ep 1 Review: Ranveer Singh’s Pammi, And His Friendship With Alia Bhatt Made It A Riot!

The Koffee has been brewed, drunk, and even spilt quite a bit, folks. The first episode of the much-awaited Koffee With Karan Season 7 dropped on Disney+ Hotstar. And the first pair of guests that Karan Johar brought to his Koffee Couch were Ranveer Singh and Alia Bhatt. The duo starred together in Gully Boy and will soon be seen in Johar’s Rocky Aur Rani Ki Prem Kahani. And a huge pre-conceived notion that I had about this pairing was that this was going to be purely promotional. However, the friendship between Alia and Ranveer, all the stories about him being there for her during a tough Gangubai shoot, and the ‘Pammi’ ness of Ranveer Singh really made me, a true blue Baba fan, cackle with laughter on my couch.

Ranveer Singh and Alia Bhatt are the new Bollywood BFFs we’re glad to know about!

Look here, you’ve got two young Bollywood actors who have a lot of heavy history between them. As host Karan Johar himself pointed out, this could’ve been an awkward working relationship between the two. And we just assumed the two were friends like most young actors in the industry are friends today. But now we know, thanks to this episode, that not only are Alia and Ranveer ‘sakhis’, but these sakhis have legit done everything from picking jewellery together to gushing over marriage proposals and even having a raucous night where RS mimicked like half of Bollywood’s A list, together!

Their banter was truly my favourite part of the episode, especially when Ranveer Singh, who clearly is a sore loser, staged a mock walk-out after Alia didn’t pick him over Varun Dhawan! And of course, the way to bring Pammi back to the couch was to give her diamonds!

Alia Bhatt spills the tea on her and Ranbir Kapoor’s wedding deets!

Okay, shocker, who knew about Ranbir Kapoor wanting to marry Alia Bhatt on the set of SOTY? It was a shocker for Alia too! The amount of FOMO that audience has had about the RanAlia wedding is insane. And now, we finally have some juicy deets from Alia herself.

Especially the bit about the proposal that Ranbir planned for Alia at Masai Mara, and how, before the wedding, he and Alia had lunch together and bid adieu to being each other’s boyfriend and girlfriend. So sweet, no?

Ranveer Singh stole the show with his Rapid Fire, Mimicry, and Pammi!

Okay, I am an RS fan for life. I’m a Bhatt and a March-born too. So as Alia Bhatt would say, we are both water signs and who knows Ranveer and I would hit it off too! Anyway, I think Ranveer Singh was the star of this show (like, when is he not?)! His mimicry of all the actors was so on-point, his Rapid Fire answers were serving and how. But I think I saw a whole different side to him with all those stories about his reaction to Alia’s proposal news, and his alter ego that loves gossip, Pammi!

I also wanna know what’s on Ranveer Singh’s sex playlist. Oh, wait, playlists. He said he has multiple.

Favourite Moment From Koffee With Karan 7 Episode 1

I LOL at so many of them but I think it was the game round that did it for me. Ranveer’s jokes were a riot, especially when he called out Karan Johar for his ‘nepo’ behaviour, a nice callback to the infamous nepotism episode with Kangana Ranaut. But it was the ‘genius of the year’ moment for me that takes the cake.  Yes, Alia Bhatt has done it again. When Karan Johar asked her to talk for 30 seconds about the topic ‘My Marriage’, well, she made a boo-boo!

Verdict: An Absolute Riot Of A First Episode!

I am fully willing to admit that there could be bias in this review considering how much I relish anything with Ranveer Singh in it. But I do think it was a great idea to kickstart the season with someone like him who is so larger-than-life and always a livewire. As expected, despite Alia Bhatt having lots of tea to share about her relationship that everyone was eager to know, Ranveer still manage to upstage everyone and everything, including host Karan Johar, with all his double entendres and ace mimicry.

The power of Pammi, ladies and gentlemen. The power of Pammi.
