Amber Heard Reacts To Johnny Depp’s First TikTok Video About ‘Moving Forward, Says “Women’s Rights Are Moving Backwards”

Johnny Depp and Amber Heard’s defamation suit has been making headlines ever since it began. This case has been in the news for all the mudslinging that happened. Both Depp and Heard levelled some serious allegations against each other and shared detailed accounts of incidents of physical and sexual abuse. And now, even after the verdict has been delivered, the social media trial continues as both Johnny Depp and Amber Heard continue taking digs at each other. Recently, the Pirates of the Caribbean actor joined TikTok and shared his first video which is all about moving forward. Soon after this, the Aquaman actress released a statement reacting to it.

Johnny Depp’s first TikTok video was a message to his fans. The actor thanks them for their love and support while emphasizing his need to put it all behind him and move forward. In the caption, the actor wrote (as quoted by People), “To all of my most treasured, loyal and unwavering supporters. We’ve been everywhere together, we have seen everything together. We have walked the same road together. We did the right thing together, all because you cared. And now, we will all move forward together.” He went on to add that his supporters will always be his employers and that he is at a loss of ways to thank them. FYI, the actor has already managed to gain a large number of followers on the video-sharing platform.

Responding to this, Amber Heard, through her spokesperson, said that while Johnny Depp is moving forward, women’s rights are moving backwards. “The verdict’s message to victims of domestic violence is … be afraid to stand up and speak out,” said Amber Heard’s spokesperson.

For the uninitiated, Johnny Depp and Amber Heard’s defamation trial ended last week after the court held both of them liable for defaming each other. Heard was held guilty for 3 counts of defamation including her 2018 op-ed and Depp was held guilty for 1 count of defamation as his lawyers had called the actress’ allegations of domestic abuse a “hoax”. Heard was asked to pay Depp $15 million in damages while the actor was asked to pay her $2 million. Soon after the verdict was announced, both the actor released a statement. In her statement, Amber Heard had shared that she feels disappointed and “heartbroken” that despite the evidence against Depp, this actor got away due to the “disproportionate power, influence and sway” he has. She also said that this verdict will take a toll on women’s rights and a set back for the entire gender. She said that the verdict has pushed women back in a time when speaking out publicly would be shamed and humiliated and violence against will not be taken seriously now. She also spoke about losing her right to Freedom of Speech.
