Jaya Bachchan Confesses Being Clueless About Her First Salary, And How Most Actors Don’t Manage Their Money

And while we always imagine women in powerful positions, knowing everything about their money, it is rarely every true. And an accurate example of the same is this latest revelation by actress Jaya Bachchan.

Arriving for another episode of her granddaughter–Navya Naveli Nanda’s podcast series–What The Hell Navya, Jaya ji openly spoke about her relationship with money. For someone who started working at the age of 13, Jaya Bachchan shares having zero knowledge about her financial state, and investments for a very long time. Adding to which she revealed being clueless about her first salary, with which her dad bought a record player and a lot of Cliff Richard EPs for her. She later talked about funding her own education, since she did not want her dad to pay her institute fees.

This on-and-off bond with money strengthened over time for her. The actress-politician also talked about how some actors still remain clueless about their financial state. This also reminded us of the recent interview, in which actress Alia Bhatt revealed she has no idea about her bank accounts. When asked about her financial state, Bhatt confessed to being managed by her mother–Soni Razdan and relying completely on her for tackling her money. She also spoke about being unaware of most of her investments and her bank balance.

Talking further about the importance of financial independence, Navya Nanda’s mom Shweta Bachchan spilt some tea on her unhealthy relationship with money. She also advised Navya to never get married until she feels financially secure. Adding to this Jaya Bachchan mentioned, “women are managers, and they have always been one.” She also talked about actors of the current generation, having better managers and an organised system, that guides them towards the right investments.
