All of you remember the ecstatic moment at the 95th Academy Awards when The Elephant Whisperers won an Oscar for Best Documentary Short Film, right? But did you also see the viral video where a man talks about how producer Guneet Monga was not allowed to say her speech as music was played right at that moment? Yes, a blatant display of racism took place on that stage that night, and Guneet Monga did not like it all. So much so that she got breathless at being cut off and was also hospitalised. This surprising detail was revealed by the ‘Naatu Naatu’ music composer, MM Keeravaani in a recent interview.

In a recent interview, MM Keeravaani talked about how Guneet Monga had to be hospitalised. Elaborating more about the incident, MM Keeravaani revealed that Guneet Monga, whom he referred to as the other award winner, felt breathless because she was not given time to say her speech. Her condition resulted in her getting hospitalised as well.

Talking about his experience of receiving an Oscar, MM Keeravaani said that it was exciting to be on the Oscars stage receiving an award on behalf of his team and representing the country on that level. He added that the universe was listening to his prayers and which resulted in the win. He went on to say that he was excited but not to the extent that he went breathless.

In the same interview, MM Keeravaani revealed that during the Oscars luncheon, the Academy president, Janet Yang, had informed all the nominees present that they will only be given 45 seconds to say their speech, and only one person will be allowed to speak from the team. As per reports, Guneet Monga also addressed being cut off before she could even say her speech, and said that it was not nice of the Academy to do so. She also revealed that she was in immense shock and had zoned out right at that moment.

This incident did become a point of conversation on social media. It was quite unjust of the Academy for allowing white artists to say their speech for as long as they wanted but cutting off Guneet before she could say her speech.
