‘The Male Feminist’: Sarika Says Women Should Also Be Told To Stop Asking Certain Things To Men
She has a point!
We are now beginning to have conversations around what are those things that men should stop saying to women. I cannot imagine us asking this question 10 years ago. But I am glad women and even men in our society have evolved and are asking more questions on gender equality and understanding the need to be better allies to women especially. During one such conversation on Hauterrfly’s brand new show, The Male Feminist with host Siddhaarth Aalambayan, Sarika brought a fresh perspective to this whole conversation of what should men stop asking women. In the sixth episode, Sarika talked about how this is a two-sided conversation and how it should be about what both men and women should stop doing to each other.
Sarika began this conversation by saying that these days she sees a lot of women drastically losing weight to become pencil-thin and men building up bulky bodies in the gym. She said that most women do not like that. And in turn, women do not like most men who are all buffed up either.

Siddhaarth added that people should talk to each other, then, and Sarika wholeheartedly agreed with this! She then said, “It should be a conversation about what we like.” Furthermore, the 60-year-old actress said, “Aapas mein sochein and khud sochein and just own yourself.”

In a world that is now only focusing on the needs of only one woman, Sarika’s comments offer a fresh take on things. In fact, throughout the episode, she stressed a lot on the importance of listening to each other and then moving forward with things. And I think that is exactly what feminism stands for. It is a platform that fights for the equality of both men and women. Hope people understand this and do not bash the movement thinking it is wholly female-centric!
