Exclusive- ‘The Male Feminist’ Ep6: “Lost Out On Basic Childhood”, Says Sarika On Gaining Financial Independence From A Young Age

It feels great to start earning at a young age and living life on your own terms. It gives you a certain kind of freedom and confidence, to be honest. To see your parents being proud of how well you are taking care of yourself is the happiest thing ever. Well, most of us have a choice of going completely independent after a certain age, but for many, it is an obligation, a phase that comes into their lives during the teenage years. Now, that’s when there are many things that an individual misses out on, and in the new episode of The Male Feminist, Sarika shared the cons of becoming the breadwinner of her family at a young age. She opened up out about her honest experience with the host, Siddhaarth Aalambayan.

Sarika, who recently appeared in the film Uunchai, made her presence on episode 6 of Hauterrfly’s The Male Feminist. She shared many of her life experiences, among which, becoming financially independent was also discussed. When The Male Feminist asked Sarika about her feelings on having gained financial independence quite early in life, the latter replied saying that she was literally unaware of this whole concept and also that she had become the breadwinner of the family.

But most importantly, Sarika highlighted that while doing so, she lost out on the most basic aspects of growing up. The veteran actress also revealed that she could not attend school because of this, and these negatives became more evident when she grew up and started to ponder over her past. Sarika said that when she looks back on the missing years of her childhood, she feels it is not right for a child to have such an experience.

Well, this definitely is a very significant point brought to light by Sarika. The process of growing up should be natural, education is something that no child should be deprived of. But unfortunately, the hard truth remains that many children do not experience the many good sides of childhood and teenage years, just because they are burdened with responsibilities of that as an adult. Instead of glorifying it, I guess we should understand the negative impacts that it might have on that individual, and Sarika did highlight that through her answer.
