Exclusive: “Used To Ask Friend To Get Pads”: Priyanka Chahar Choudhary On Feeling Awkward After First Period

Menstruation is a phase in everyone’s life that hits suddenly. One moment we are girls going about our normal lives, and the next, we are bleeding for five days or more from our vaginas without an injury. Conversation at the right time about periods and period care can help a girl when she gets her first period and more so, she is mentally prepared for it! In the latest episode of The Male Feminist, Bigg Boss 16 star Priyanka Chahar Choudhary shared what it was like for her to go through menstruation as it was not discussed with her at home.

In a conversation with Hauterrfly’s Male Feminist, Siddharth Aalambayan, Priyanka Chahar Choudhary shared that time when she first got her period, and this made her awkward. She said, “There was never an open conversation around periods at home, even though I have two elder sisters we never really talked about it.”

Priyanka further elaborated that she spent the first two-three months without letting anyone at home know that she had gotten her period. She revealed that she used to ask her friend to get pads for her. Then, her elder sister found out, and had a period talk with her which comforted her. Priyanka Chahar Choudhary said that she was awkward because they do not share things with each other at home.
This is a lesson to all parents who have teenaged daughters that they do not consider talking about periods as taboo because it is important that a girl knows what changes are happening in her body. She deserves to know why and how her body is undergoing such a massive change and it is absolutely normal and nothing to worry about. Additionally, parents must also have a conversation about period care.
