You must be aware of the ongoing controversy around the Diljit Dosanjh film Satluj, which was taken down from the OTT platform, a day after its release. The film, however, has sparked many conversations on social media. Many reports around the sudden ban also made headlines. Is There A Special Satluj Screening Amid Ban?
The Delhi Sikh Gurudwara Management Committee has reportedly announced a special screening of Honey Trehan’s directorial Satluj. The committee has also spoken against the ban on the film in India. Going by an ANI report, DSGMC has said that it will soon host screenings and seminars on Satluj. In his statement, the committee’s President, Harmeet Singh Kalka, spoke about the content of the film, which revolves around Jaswant Singh Khalra and his brave efforts to uncover the hard realities of the militancy era in Punjab. He called the banning of the film wrong.
As per the Committee’s President, the organisation will soon host more screenings and seminars at educational institutions to spread awareness about the human rights activist Jaswant Singh Khalra. As per him, the committee has been asked to download the film and let it reach it to the public.
What Is The Satluj Controversy?
The Honey Trehan film was submitted to the CBFC in 2022 and was stuck there for 3 years. Over 120 cuts were asked to be made, with a title change. The makers finally did an OTT release of the film as Satluj. However, a day after its release, it was suddenly taken down. Some reports suggest that a panel has also been set up to review the ban on the fan, and accordingly make suggestions to the centre.
