We all love a good comedy-drama and more so when it has a stellar cast and ever since Alia Bhatt starrer Darlings has been announced, all of us have been sitting on the edge of our seats waiting for more updates on it. And it looks like what we’ve been waiting for is here. Hold your breaths darlings because Darlings is all set to come on our screens and the official announcement for it is here. OTT giant, Netflix dropped a super duper cute video to announce that the Jasmeet K Reen directorial film will be releasing on their streaming platform. This comedy-drama will be produced by Gauri Khan, Alia Bhatt and Gaurav Verma under the banners of Red Chillies Entertainment and Eternal Sunshine Production. Apart from Alia Bhatt, this film also stars Shefali Shah, Vijay Varma and Roshan Mathew in the lead roles. And get this, Darlings is Alia Bhatt’s debut as a producer. While the makers have not revealed the release date of the film, it’s scheduled to premiere on the OTT platform this year itself.

For the unversed, the official announcement of the film was made in March 2021 and the principal photography for the same began on July 3 and the film was wrapped up in September of the same year. Earlier in February, an India Today report had claimed that the Alia Bhatt and Shah Rukh Khan backed film, Darlings was sold to Netflix for Rs 75 crore and happens to be a dark comedy. Well, we can’t wait to find out if it really is a dark comedy and how Bollywood plays with this genre.
