‘Class’ Trailer: This Desi Elite Series Looks Chaotic And Confusing

Just a few weeks ago, I binge-watched all seasons of the Netflix Spanish show Elite. More so, since I couldn’t wait to watch the official Indian remake of the crime thriller show. TBH, a part of us is always vicariously living the scandal through these teens involved in a murder mystery. For us Nancy Drew and Famous Five fans, it’s the only way we can live our childhood dreams! And guess what? Netflix has released the trailer of the Indian remake of Elite titled Class which is set to hit the OTT platform on February 3. Directed by Ashim Ahluwalia and produced by Bodhitree Multimedia Limited in collaboration with Future East, Class stars Gurfateh Pirzada, Anjali Sivaraman, Ayesha Kanga, Chayan Chopra, Chintan Rachchh, Cwaayal Singh, Madhyama Segal, Naina Bhan, Moses Koul, Piyush Khati and Zeyn Shaw among others.

The trailer opens with a teen being questioned by the police while investigating the murder of another student. Without much introduction to the characters, the trailer shows 3 new scholarship students who join an elite school in Delhi where kids from rich families come to study. Amid new friendships, messed up old friendship dynamics, secrets, money, rumours, lies and pretence, a murder takes place. Will the murderer be caught? You’ll just have to watch Class on February 3 to find the answers.

NGL but for someone who has already watched Elite, Class seems nothing more than yet another remake. To add to that, the trailer fails to properly introduce the characters or allow us to get a proper glimpse of their faces and names which makes it extremely tough to keep up with what’s happening in the trailer. This makes the trailer extremely confusing and rather chaotic and leaves us questioning where the plot is going. To someone who hasn’t watched the series, the trailer might not even make any sense. Plus it’s not at all elite like the Spanish show. Instead, it just looks like a bunch of brats from Delhi, rich and poor, getting into unnecessary fights!

IMHO Class is just a gandi copy of Elite that will have all of you who have watched to original show cringe. From the way the characters talk to the way they walk to even some of the scenes, it all looks just the same. While it sure is an interesting genre to introduce to the Indian audience, it’s something that only people who haven’t watched Elite might enjoy. For those of us who have watched the show, I’d recommend you just re-watch it in Hindi audio.
