15 Things That Gen Z Does That Makes Millennials Go “Inka Kya Hi Hoga?”

I’m a millennial and don’t trust Gen Z with the world! January 12 is Swami Vivekananda’s birth anniversary. In 1984, the Indian Government declared Vivekananda Jayanti as National Youth Day. And while it’s amazing that we celebrate the youth, more so since India happens to be one of the youngest countries with a high proportion of youth, the problem is that our new generation has its own problems that they’re unwilling to deal with. As a millennial, I’m about to say something we’ve all heard from our parents – kya hoga iss generation ka? I’ve met and dealt with Gen Z and let me tell you, I’m not a fan. We millennials spent our lives making this world a slightly better place to live in but the next generation clearly cannot handle the reigns of this world anytime soon. I’m sure you’re wondering why? Well, here’s why.

15 Problems I Have With Gen Z As A Millennial

1. This new generation has a habit of cracking far too many jokes and joking about anything and everything and not knowing where to draw the line. While it’s okay to joke but their love affair with dark humour is often problematic. Zindagi ka mazak bana rakha hai!

2. The obsessive need that Gen Z has to eat unhealthy food just to flaunt it on their social media really just drives me up the wall. Sure, we all have some or other unhealthy habits but where does it stop? Spending a bomb to get a cup of coffee with stars for social media posts and show off? Someone needs to stop these kids!

3. The new generation is always promoting the importance of mental health and self-care and they’re also very open about it but this doesn’t change the fact that their entire generation has high-stress levels due to constant exposure to social media and to keep up the show.

4. As millennials, we’ve all seen unhealthy and toxic relationships and that’s also why we constantly thrive to find healthy relationships with more green flags than red but Gen Z couldn’t care less. They run towards red flags and toxic relationships like it’s their lifeline. I don’t know if it’s ignorance or they simply prefer toxic relationships so things never get real and raw!

5. While most millennials fought for multiple causes, Gen Z is sorted in a way that they pick and choose their battles carefully. They pick a cause and stick to it and while I appreciate it, the problem is that they don’t actually put effort into working on that cause. They’re basically keyboard warriors who think a few social media posts will change the world. But get off your asses and get working, you guys. The world isn’t about to change itself because you made a SOCIAL MEDIA POST!

6. Unlike millennials, Gen Z had a more privileged upbringing and more privacy than we can ever even imagine. That’s also why they value their privacy a lot but all of this goes right out the window when it comes to social media. It would take one all of 5 seconds to know all about a Gen Z-ers life thanks to all the details they share on social media.

7. Speaking of social media, the new generation is very active on these platforms but not very active when they meet people in person. They can have deep conversations on social media but dare them to have a decent conversation with someone face-to-face and they will fail. No wonder we spot them all sitting in a group while they’re on their phones.

8. Their constant need to click pictures and videos is not just annoying but also eats up most of their time. Most Gen Z-ers spend their time clicking pictures and taking videos to show off how much fun they’re having rather than actually having fun!

9. Ye sab influencer banenge. The annoying urge that Gen Z has to become an influencer just gets to me. But tell me something, if all of you become influenzaaaa, influence kisko karoge? Huh? Also, the obsessive need for “aesthetic” needs to go. Nope, nada, that ain’t gonna work in the real world. Time to come out of your reels!

10. The other career path that Gen Z absolutely ADORES is the idea of becoming an entrepreneur but guess what, guys? You have to actually work really really hard and devote time and effort to not just start but sustain your own business and that’s not going to happen if you laze around tapping away to glory on your phones. You cannot run a business with just smart work, hard work is just as important.

11. The new generation wants to bring a change and they’re making efforts. You know how? By giving us the gift of cancel culture (note the sarcasm). Cancelling people and things is helping absolutely nobody!

12. Gen Z was practically born in the digital era and that’s also why they know anything and everything about it. But what they do not understand is cyberbullying. They do not know when and where they’ve crossed a line and when it’s time to back off. And it’s not just cyberbullying, you’d be surprised how they also manage to bully boomers, Gen X and millennials along with their peers.

13. This generation is all about emojis but they just can’t do emotions. They’ll go all out to use emojis but hide away their emotions. It’s like they’ve almost forgotten that it’s human to have emotions.

14. Gen Z is all about SEX! That’s also why they’re so blind when it comes to red flags. The good old way of romance is dying thanks to the hookup culture. It’s good to be sexually empowered and that’s something we worked for as millennials there’s a right time and age for it but the new generation does not know where to draw the line and also the fact that they put romance away in a closet. From their jokes to their conversation, the constant need to discuss sex is just too much.

15. Someone really needs to give this new generation a reality check. Be it their personal lives or workplaces, this generation wants things to go their way. They’re unwilling to make changes and adjustments and instead expect the world to revolve around them but hey, news flash – the world only revolves around the sun.

Having said all of that, let me tell you this – it’s not that I hate Gen Z but as millennials, we fought hard for a slightly better world and we still have a long way to go but I just don’t see that happening with this generation. Their lack of initiative is problematic.
