8 Bollywood Songs Like ‘Besharam Rang’ That Stirred Serious Controversy

In India, it has become very common for people to get offended by movies, tv shows, and even by fashion choices or things done by celebrities. Recently, Madhya Pradesh Home Minister Narottam Mishra took objection to and spoke publicly against the song ‘Besharam Rang’ from Pathaan featuring Deepika Padukone and Shah Rukh Khan. In fact, there’s now an official complaint against the song, for reasons such as obscenity and hurting Hindu sentiments! Honestly, I’m beginning to feel like the words protest, controversy, and ban are India’s favourite words.

But Besharam Rang isn’t the first time that a Bollywood song has been coloured in controversy. Here’s a list of Bollywood tracks that courted trouble.

8 Bollywood Songs That Stirred Controversy

1. Munni Badaam – Dabangg

This famous song featuring Malaika Arora landed in trouble for using the product’s name ‘Zandu Balm’ as Emami Ltd. sued the creators for the same. This turned into a very messy and chaotic case.

2. Radha – Student Of The Year

This is an extremely famous song and people love it but very few people are aware of the fact that Dharma Productions, Gauri Khan and Karan Johar were sued for associating the Hindu goddess Radha with the word ‘sexy’.

3. Dum Maaro Dum – Dum Maaro Dum

This was a fresh remake of an iconic song and although this song featuring Deepika Padukone was appreciated, people believed that it barely compared to the original. Both the iconic actors’ Dev Anand and Zeenat Aman disliked this remake and commented on it, publicly.

4. Panghat

This song featuring Sunny Leone was attacked publicly. Various ‘saints’ from Mathura and Uttar Pradesh believed that the song was hurting their religious sentiments by violating the Brajbhoomi of Lord Krishna with obscene moves.

5. Aaja Nachle – Aaja Nachle

This beautiful song which highlighted the comeback of the Bollywood diva Madhuri Dixit was attacked publicly. This was because the lyrics included a slur, i.e., mochi, which was offensive to various communities.

6. Bhaag D.K. Bose – Delhi Belly

This was a heavily messed up song because it faced both lyrics as well as copyright issues from the masses. These lyrics seemed to spell out an abusive slur which also created utter and complete chaos. It was removed from various platforms.

7. Ghoomar – Padmavat

This beautifully created song featuring Deepika Padukone was attacked mercilessly by the women of the Rajput community. They held joined protests against the song because it showed a well-known Rajput queen

8. Besharam Rang –  Pathaan

This awesome song featuring Deepika Padukone and Shah Rukh Khan is being publicly ‘coloured’ with controversies. It was targeted by Narottam Mishra, the home minister of Madhya Pradesh. He strongly believes that the saffron bikini worn by Deepika Padukone is obscene. He is also against the ‘objectionable scenes’ in the song’s video.
