None of them are wrong!
Bhumi Pednekar On Ratna Pathak Shah’s Remark On Actors’ Privilege, “Everyone’s Views Must Be Respected But…”

Bollywood is not new to controversies and drama. In fact, controversies and drama, be it in reel or real life, are what the entertainment industry thrives on. Over the years, we’ve seen celebs attack their counterparts and whatnot but things have changed with time. These days celebs don’t air their dirty laundry publically. But that doesn’t mean we don’t see them locking horns with each other or publically disagreeing with each other or calling out someone for being politically incorrect. Recently, Ratna Pathak Shah made headlines for attacking the new-age actors who enjoy several privileges on the sets but still deliver flops at the box office. And now, Bhumi Pednekar has reacted to the remarks.

Speaking to a media portal during the promotions of her upcoming film Bheed, Bhumi Pednekar reacted to the comments made by Ratna Pathak Shah. While acknowledging the privilege of vanity vans that the actors of the new generation enjoy, Bhumi highlighted that the new age actors are very fortunate to have privileges that the actors of the previous generations did not enjoy. Calling her vanity van her safe space, the actress pointed out that in the end, it’s all about ensuring that there is a safe, democratic environment which allows people to remain grounded.

Further, Bhumi Pednekar pointed out that one could have a moment of silence while sitting in the middle of the set and not speaking to anyone or one could be in their vanity van. She went on to add that it’s about how one is disconnected from the world outside. She went on to add that while everyone’s opinions must be respected, every person and generation should be allowed to decide how they want to stay grounded or connected with their craft.

But What Did Ratna Pathak Shah Say?

While speaking to Film Companion during the promotions of her web series Happy Family: Conditions Apply, Ratna Pathak Shah called out the new generation actors who enjoy privileges and have a whole team at their disposal to do things for them. She slammed them for having people to hold their coffee mugs while comparing them to three-month-old babies and called them self-absorbed. She further questioned if the producers are getting the worth. of the money they spend on these actors and their entourage and pointed out that despite all that, these actors are delivering films that flop at the box office. Ratna Pathak Shah did not hesitate to add that this is why these actors are unable to stay grounded which in turn takes a toll on their work.

TBH, I lowkey agree with Ratna Pathak Shah. While Bhumi Pednekar has acknowledged the privilege enjoyed by the actors of the current generation, the fact remains that several star kids reportedly have a starry attitude despite delivering flops after flops! But that doesn’t mean it’s okay to attack them for it. But then again since all generations operate on different frequencies, it’s tough to be on the same page. To each their own!
