What Are Wife Guys And Why Are They Being Cancelled By The Internet Right Now?
This week hasn’t been kind to men who publicly hype up or rather – used to – hype us their wives. And if you wonder why; because who doesn’t want a man who is your cheerleader at all times? It is a tale as old as time, men ruining things for everybody because they simply cannot get their shit together. These wife guys are being bashed for their performative nonsense after a lot of their raita has been spread all over social media for all of us to witness. Men like Adam Levine, Ned Fulmer, Ime Udoka are under major attack (as they should be) after their cheating asses were exposed for all to see. But wait, I think I am getting ahead of myself here. Let’s backtrack a bit and discuss what exactly is a wife guy and why they are under attack by the citizens of the world wide web.

What is a wife guy?
A wife guy is a man all women (and maybe a few men?) swoon over. They are the type that make a woman turn to her partner and go “dekho! Isse kuch seekho!!!” They are essentially the Sharmaji ka beta of husbands. They are the type that have the words “my wife” or “meri biwi” constantly on their lips as they have no chill over how amazing/beautiful/talented etc etc their wives are. And while all this sounds all amazing and dandy, is there any point to it if all of this is just performative? Examples of wife guys include men like Ranveer Singh, Ryan Reynolds, Ned Fulmer and Adam Levine. I hope you see how easily this all went downhill. Now let’s check out what’s with the internet bashing wife guys.

Why are wife guys under attack?
I remember the first time I watched a video of Adam Levine’s reaction to his wife, Victoria’s Secret model, Behati Prinsloo walking down the runway and thinking “man, goals!” Well, that didn’t age well. And that is exactly why people are hating on wife guys as a whole. Especially after the drama of Ned Fulmer and his Try Guys employee, video producer Alex Herring unfolded. Ned Fulmer, famously known as Ned ‘My Wife’ Fulmer is a former Buzzfeed employee who got popular through appearing in their videos with three other men, all 4 of them known as the Try Guys were they essentially tried the randomest things possible. They were the darlings of YouTube as some of the most unproblematic men on the platform; that was until speculations began about Ned cheating on his wife Ariel with Alex. Being known as the man who came across as being the perfect husband and father (the ideal family man), the internet was SHOOKETH as no one saw this coming. The Try Guys released a statement saying that Ned will no longer be working with them and Ariel has requested privacy.

After these men’s kaali kartoote came to light, the internet has been bashing on wife guys as a whole. Clearly, Adam and Ned gave trust issues to more people than just their spouses. People are now questioning the performative hyping and PDA that these men show just to eventually be exposed as cheaters.

Not gonna lie, Ned Fulmer’s news hit me harder than Adam Levine’s. I just always say Ned and Ariel as an idyllic happy couple with their 2 boys and having grown up watching the Try Guys, this ruined my perception of everything I had seen. The entire internet (and me) to Adam and Ned are like Vicky Kaushal to Alia Bhatt in Raazi, “kuch bhi sach tha?”
