Shriya Pilgaonkar: I Put My Foot Down About Coming Home Late

Growing up as a woman in India is no easy feat with the crime rates and patriarchal thinking and whatnot. From being barred from going for sleepovers to having a curfew, we’ve all dealt with it and we’ve all rebelled to get our way eventually. In the latest episode of Hauterrfly’s The Male Feminist, Shriya Pilgaonkar opened up about being a rebel while being responsible growing up. And TBH, it’s totally relatable.

In episode 12 of The Male Feminist, Shriya Pilgaonkar opened up about her upbringing and shared that her parents never sat her down and listed down the restrictions on her, however there was a certain unsaid responsibility that she felt she had on her shoulders. “There wasn’t much scope to be a rebel but when I was in college and I would go out, I had to put my foot down saying that I am going to be late but I will tell you but you know how parents are. You know how parents say that they won’t sleep until you come home,” said Shriya Pilgaonkar.

NGL but we can totally relate. All of our parents have stayed up late at night waiting for us to get home after a night of partying. And no matter how old we grow, our parents will never really stop worrying but at the same time, they let us grow and see the world and that’s the beauty of it all!
