Samantha Ruth Prabhu Criticizes The Double Standards For Morally Judging Men And Women. She’s Right!

News flash: We live in a patriarchal society where the rules for men and women are poles apart. A society that questions every aspect, decision, matter, etc. of a woman’s life but keeps shut when it comes to men. A society that lays down all moral responsibility on a woman and makes excuses for why men cannot be given moral responsibility. We’ve come across many such situations/incidents/moments in our lives that everything written above holds truth (at some level). More often than not we hardly ever question these double standards for men and women that exist in society. But there are some women who start their day out by calling these double standards out in the open. One of them is actor Samantha Ruth Prabhu.

The actress recently took to her Instagram and shared a post to her Instagram stories. The content of the post criticized the double standards for men and women. Samantha captioned her story writing, “Good Morning.”

The post that Samantha Ruth Prabhu shared, stated, “If matters are constantly morally questionable when done by women, but not even morally questioned when done by men- then we as a society, fundamental have no Morals.”

This Instagram story came right after Samantha Ruth and Naga Chaitanya announced their split to the world. A few days ago, the Family Man 2 actress had post on social media about her split as well. The post read. “To all our well-wishers. After much deliberation and thought Chay and I have decided to part ways as husband and wife to pursue our own paths. We are fortunate to have a friendship of over a decade that was the very core of our relationship which we believe will always hold a special bond between us. We request our fans, well-wishers, and the media to support us during this difficult time and give us the privacy we need to move on. Thanking you for your support.” A similar post was shared by Naga Chaitanya on his Instagram account.

The actress has also reverted to her maiden name on all her social media accounts.

Earlier today, Samantha also posted a statement on Instagram Stories again, thanking her fans for the overwhelming support she received from them, as they defended her in the face of rumours of cheating, and much in light of the divorce announcement.

When a relationship breaks—especially a marriage—more often than not, a woman is blamed for it. She is the one who hears people say that she was incapable of keeping the marriage alive and that she couldn’t handle her family well. But why is it only a woman’s responsibility to keep the marriage alive or take care of the family? Why is a woman always questioned or blamed for a relationship not working out whereas a man is unanswerable? Samantha Ruth Prabhu’s Instagram post exactly criticizes these double standards. And I, for one, am glad that she did so.
