From ‘Sanedo Sanedo’ To ‘Dholi Taro’, Here Are 9 Garba Songs That Will Get You In The Mood For Navratri

Ayeee haloooo! Yep, I’m a Gujarati and oh my, do I love this time of the year! With the Navratri festival right around the corner, you can not just sense but also hear the excitement from miles away. I mean, after all, we Gujaratis are infamously known for being loud, aren’t we? And this is one time of the year I really don’t mind being loud, I mean, what’s a nine-day-long festival without some music to amp your excitement? Navratri is the perfect reason to get ready in colourfully stunning ethnic attires, meet friends, stay out till late, and dance your heart out.

But dancing to your heart’s content is only possible when you have the right songs. So, tighten your ghaghra/dhoti, grab your dandiyas, and practice your steps, cause I’ve got a dance-worthy Navratri playlist just for you. Yup, that’s right, I’m back with another playlist and this one is filled with all the songs that you can’t help but move to.

So, what are we waiting for? Check out the Navratri playlist below:

1. Sanedo Sanedo

To start off with is my favourite garba song, ‘Sanedo Sanedo’. This Gujarati folk music was popularised by the singer Maniraj Barot and since then, there is no single Navratri I have seen where this fast-track song hasn’t been played. For all Bollywood lovers, the song from Made In China that is sung by Nikita Gandhi and Mika Singh, composed by Sachin-Jigar, is also pretty fab if you ask me.

2. Chogada

This song from Loveyatri and sung by Asees Kaur and Darshan Raval is filled with Gujarati lyrics and beats that have everyone on the dance floor. To say it is a hit with garba enthusiasts would be stating the obvious.

3. Radha Ne Shyam Mali Jase

This Navratri song sung by Shruti Pathak and Sachin Sanghvi is a slow-paced garba song. Start with this to set the pace and mood of the place you’re going to play garba and you’ll see many joining in. This magical song is soothing, and fun, and is perfect for transitioning to high-paced songs.

4. Nagada Sang Dhol

Ram-Leela was filled with songs that can be played during Navratri. But my favourite has to be ‘Nagada Sang Dhol’. The popular garba song sung by Shreya Ghoshal and Osman Mir is high-paced, groovy, and has a vibe that will instantly set you in the festive mood.

5. Odhni Odhu Ne Udi Udi Jaay

This upbeat, peppy garba song is the heart of Navratri. For all those who are decking up for Navratri this season, don’t forget a dupatta – yes, especially for this song because there are so many steps you could do with that.

6. Dholi Taro

The evergreen song from Hum Dil De Chuke Sanam is a favourite of garba lovers. In fact, I can say with certainty that there is no Navratri playlist where this song featuring Aishwarya Rai Bachchan and Salman Khan is not there. Nuh-uh, it ain’t happening.

7. Ghani Cool Chori

Taapsee Pannu’s Rashmi Rocket featured a killer song, ‘Ghani Cool Chori’, that has the beats every garba lover is going to love. Once the music starts, trust me, there is nothing stopping your feet from flaunting those garba moves you got going.

8. Udi Udi Jaye

To say ‘Udi Udi Jaye’ from Raees is colourful would be an understatement. I personally love this version of the Gujarati song. And trust me, you’d love it too because as soon as the song starts you’ll get this strong urge to pick up your dandiya sticks, grab your partner, and get grooving.

9. Pari Hoon Main

Does this song even need a reason to be on the Navratri playlist? I think not. Just play this garba song by Falguni Pathak and get on with your popat.
