No no, I am not recounting my dating history here, although it doesn’t look very different (Hehehe TMI). I’m talking about what’s on the menu this week from the streaming services, Netflix, Amazon Prime Video, Disney+ Hotstar, SonyLIV and BookMyShow Stream. There’s quite the list that’s sure to keep you sorted for the weekend, in fact, way into next week. From the Jim Sarbh and Ishwak Singh starter Rocket Boys series to Taapsee Pannu and Tahir Raj Bhasin starrer movie Looop Lapeta, from Danish Sait headlining One Cut Two Cut on Amazon Prime Video to the return of Keanu Reeves as Neo in Matrix Resurrections on your home screens, here’s your guide to streaming this weekend!
One Cut Two Cut (Amazon Prime Video)
One Cut Two Cut is a Kannada satirical comedy adventure movie directed by Vamsidhar Bhogaraju starring funnyman Danish Sait in his arts and craft teacher avatar, Gopi. When a group of kidnappers barge into the school that Gopi teaches in and take the children and teachers for hostages, Gopi takes up he task of saving the day. Will he? To know, you gotta sit till the end of this class on dark comedy. One Cut Two Cut is produced by late actor Puneeth Rajkumar’s PRK Productions, and will begin streaming on Amazon Prime Video from Thursday, February 3, 2022.
Rocket Boys (Sony LIV)
You’ve read about these illustrious men in your science and history textbooks, which called them the fathers of visionary programmes in their respective fields. In Rocket Boys, Jim Sarbh plays Dr. Homi Jehangir Bhabha and Ishwak Singh plays Dr Vikram Sarabhai, two great scientific minds we know all about and perhaps still not enough? The series is set against the backdrop of a post-Independence India that dared to dream that it could become an independent energy nation and even conquer the final frontier. But the series is also about these two brilliant men’s friendship, the political redtape they encountered, the internal discord amongst the scientific community of that time, and their personal lives.
The series also stars Regina Cassandra, Rajat Kapur, Dibyendu Bhattacharya, Saba Azad, and Arjun Radhakrishnan in pivotal roles. Directed by Abhay Pannu, created by Nikkhil Advani, Roy Kapur Films, and Emmay Entertainment, and produced by Siddharth Roy Kapur, Monisha Advani, Madhu Bhojwani, and Nikkhil Advani, Rocket Boys releases on Sony LIV on Friday, February 4, 2022.
Through My Window (Netflix)
Meet another Raquel, and no this time she isn’t hunting and eventually following in love with a heist mastermind. This Racquel is a teenager with a longtime crush on her cute neighbour. Things take a turn when he starts developing feelings for, despite family objections. Starring Clara Galle and Julio Peña, Through My Window promises to be a hot, sexy, romantic watch with love songs to boot and a gripping storyline. Perfect for Valentine’s month, no? It arrives on Netflix on Friday, February 4, 2022.
Looop Lapeta (Netflix)
I don’t know if you’ve seen Run Lola Run, the German film that Looop Lapeta is the official Hindi remake of. But let me tell you, it’s quite a fun premise if executed right. The original had a very unique style and its visuals were trippy AF and rich with details that added to the story. Naturally, Looop Lapeta, directed by Aakash Bhatia and starring Taapsee Pannu and Tahir Raj Bhasin, comes with high expectations! Savi (played by Taapsee) thinks she’s in a race against time to save her gambling addict boyfriend Satya’s life. But actually, she’s on a looped race track where the finish line is elusive unless she finds a way out!

Reacher (Amazon Prime Video)
Listen, we’re all Tom Cruise fans here, and his version of author Lee Child’s Reacher is a different ball game that we can’t touch. But I don’t think that’s ever a reason to not let someone new step into those shoes and take them for a spin in a new iteration and format, right? In fact, some fans of the books believe Alan Ritchson actually looks like Reacher, who is a veteran military police investigator who gets pulled into a conspiracy just as he returns to normal civilian life. But will this new Reacher, directed by Nick Santora, actually impress the audience and keep them hooked? Only time will tell. Reacher is reaching on Amazon Prime Video on Friday, February 4, 2022.
The Great Indian Murder (Disney+ Hotstar)
This is no scam, amigos. Pratik Gandhi is back in another series that comes with oodles of promise and a cast that includes heavyweights like Richa Chada, Ashutosh Rana, Sharib Hashmi, and Raghuvir Yadav in lead roles. What’s more, the show is based on a book called Six Suspects by Vikas Swarup (who wrote the book Q&A from which the Oscar-winner Slumdog Millionaire was adapted). The series is a murder mystery that revolves around the death of an influential personality, Vicky Rai, and two detectives who try to crack the case. Will they be able to find the killer or something more in pursuit of the truth? We’ve got to see for ourselves! After all, it is directed by none other than Tigmanshu Dhulia! The Great Indian Murder arrives on Disney+ Hotstar on Friday, February 4, 2022.
Phat Tuesdays: The Era of Hip-Hop Comedy (Amazon Prime Video)
A docu-series that celebrates the untold story of black comedians at The Comedy Story in 90’s Los Angeles? Count me in! This is going to be both a history lesson and a retrospective of just how far comedy has come! Phat Tuesdays drops on Amazon Prime Video on February 4, 2022, and it’s going to be a laugh riot for sure!
Dark Desire Season 2 (Netflix)
Look here, it’s been shaadi season and cuffing season for a while now, and with February here with all that Valentine’s Day mush, I’m feeling single AF. As if on cue drops Season 2 of Dark Desire (Oscuro Deseo) a Mexican thriller drama series that I discovered last year and have been obsessed with. The series revolves around Alma, a law school professor who is happily married to one of the most reputed judges in Mexico, Leonardo Solares, and has a college-going daughter too. A night out with her best friend brings her to Dario Guerra, a college student with a sinister past that connects to Alma in so many ways. The two have a passionate romp that morphs into a drug-like addiction, unravelling a series of events that lead to death and destruction and reopening of an old gruesome murder case involving all of the above people as well as Alma’s brother-in-law, Esteban.
The show is steaming hot, sexy, dark, and a delicious binge that I promise, you won’t regret. The cast includes Maite Perroni, Erik Hayser, Alejandro Speitzer, María Fernanda Yepes, Regina Pavón and Jorge Poza.
The Matrix Resurrections (BookMyShow Stream)
I’m not a huge fan of resurrecting franchises we’ve put to bed satisfactorily, even if it means we get to see Keanu Reeves as Neo and Carrie-Anne Moss as Trinity together again. But here’s the thing. If there had to be a sequel to the original Matrix trilogy, like it just had to be there, then I suppose The Matrix Resurrections is the way to do it and have fun making it too. Apart from the obvious reasons to watch this one, watch it for Jonathan Groff putting his spin on Agent Smith (played by Hugo Weaving in the trilogy) and Yahya Abdul-Mateen II as a suave new Morpheus, and the ass-kicking delight that is Jessica Henwick. Oh and for apni Priyanka Chopra playing a grown-up version of Sati!

Manoranjan (Large Short Films on YouTube)
I love the Royal Stag Barrel Select Large Short Films channel on YouTube because you get to see so many amazing shorts without having to pay any subscription fees. And these shorts are headlined by some of the finest actors we know. This week dropped Manoranjan, a short film by Suhail Tatari that features Gul Panag as a small-town homemaker with a sinister agenda when she finds out an unwanted guest is coming over to stay in her house. Seemingly nice and homely, she displays a dark side of her that totally spooks her guest, and even us! The short also stars Satyajit Sharma and Mihir Ahuja.
