Cole Sprouse Says Fame For Child Actors Is Traumatising, Was Worse For Female Actors Than For Him And Dylan Sprouse
As an audience, the life of film stars does look glittery and quite fascinating, especially child actors. The access to the best of things, tons of money, and a chance to be seen on the big screen while having a throng of fans at a young age! Ah, this does sound like a dream life! Naturally, this glittery lifestyle attracted me, too, while growing up.
But we often tend to miss out on what really goes on behind the screen and how these child actors rise to fame and recognition at a tender age and how this affects them mentally. Being subjected to the same, actor Cole Sprouse who shot to fame with his stint in Disney’s Suite Life Of Zach And Cody, has opened up about how he and his twin brother Dylan Sprouse came out of this ‘unscathed’.
Cole Sprouse Says Fame Is Traumatising For Child Artists
In an interview with The New York Times, the Riverdale star has shared how fame affects child artists’ mentally. He said, “When we talk about child stars going nuts, what we’re not actually talking about is how fame is a trauma.” He added that young women on the channel they worked with, the Disney Channel, were “so heavily sexualized” from such a young age as compared to him and his brother, Dylan Sprouse, that they cannot compare their experiences.

Cole Sprouse went on to say that he defends these young female actors who are mocked by people because he feels it does not ‘adequately comprehend the humanity of that experience and what it takes to recover’ from that fame. He also went on to add that now that he has experienced fame as an adult actor, it still has the same psychological effects as it did when he was young. We always knew being a child actor is no child’s play, but his statement put things into an even harsher perspective.
