Divyanka Tripathi Slams The ‘No Bindi No Business’ Campaign On Twitter. And Rightly So!

In recent times, our politicians have regressed in their views on religion and enforced that same ideology onto people. And I believe that in turn has made the people extremely intolerant about not only other religions but also about anything and everything that is deviant from their idea of their religion that is fed to them. An example of that would be the campaign that started on Twitter, against advertisements that don’t show women wearing ‘bindis’ while dressed in Indian attire. Yep, that’s an actual campaign. And like many others who’ve ridiculed the campaign, Divyanka Tripathi is one of them. She slammed a Twitter user promoting the ‘No Bindi No Business’ campaign and stated that Hinduism is all about respecting other people’s choices. Preach woman, preach!

Indian TV actress Divyanka Tripathi has never been one to shy away from expressing her opinions on social media. And she did it again this time when she slammed a Twitter user who is also an author promoting the ‘No Bindi No Business’ campaign.

The Yeh Hai Mohabbatein actress slammed the campaign as it questioned women’s choice to dress up the way they want. A female user on Twitter tweeted, “Speaking for myself. Not buying anything for #Deepawali from any brand that shows model without a bindi. #nobindinobusiness”. Divyanka Tripathi didn’t take the comment lying down and responded, “No bindi no business? It should be a woman’s choice what she wants to wear! Hinduism is about respecting choices! Next you’ll want purda-system & then Satipratha back? Why should any culture be measured by women’s dressing? I’m further shocked when women propagate such concepts.”

Divyanka further added, “Even I did a Diwali home shot commercial recently without a Bindi. Brand had nothing to do with it. It was a personal choice..close to my reality. If one is sure of his/her cultural values, won’t need a pseudo portrayal. Now, I’ll wear a green dress on Diwali. Will share pics.” It wasn’t the end of it, Tripathi then replied to other users slamming the campaign movement.

I honestly am glad that there is someone out there who is calling out this ridiculous campaign. And I love the fact that Divyanka Tripathi is talking about women’s choices and that being Hindu doesn’t mean that a woman has to dress up in a certain way. I believe that no matter which religion a woman belongs to, she has the choice to dress up the way she wants to and no one can question it.
